People are not happy Trump hasn't acknowledged Pride Month

Despite what you've heard — or rather, have not heard — from the White House, June is Pride Month.

To celebrate and show support for the LGBTQ community, Twitter has released a custom heart emoji, Instagram added some fierce AF stickers to its app, and Google even dedicated a Doodle to the honor the American artist and LGBTQ rights activist who crated the rainbow flag. President Trump, however, has done nothing.

We're already two days into June and have heard complete silence from the White House in regards to Pride. Needless to say, people have definitely noticed — and they're not happy about it.

Though the White House has released statements publicly declaring this month National Homeownership, Ocean, African-American Music Appreciation, and Great Outdoors month, the president has yet to acknowledge Pride Month.

You'd think a man who tweeted about the LGBTQ community that one time, promising to fight for their freedoms and beliefs during his campaign, would be attentive and eager to celebrate a month dedicated to just that. So far, though, nothing.

It's been a big week for Trump, what with attempting to recover from apparently misspelling "coverage" on Twitter and withdrawing from the Paris Climate Agreement, so this other extremely important fact may have just slipped his mind.

Whatever the reasoning, people
are reacting to the White House's Pride Month silence, sharing both  their disappointment in the president and support for the LGBTQ community on Twitter.

In the president's absence, other politicians and organizations like Nancy Pelosi and the Human Rights Campaign have taken it upon themselves to publicly proclaim Pride Month.

It should be noted that Trump's daughter Ivanka tweeted a message of support to the LGBTQ community on June 1. People were quick to recall the fact Trump has taken controversial action against LGBTQ people in the past, such as helping roll back the right for trans students to use bathrooms based on gender identity. Not to mention picking Mike Pence as his vice president.

Ivanka did make the effort, which is cool, but she's still not the leader of the country and effectively has no official power.

  1. I see a pattern. Clinton: pride month. Bush: no pride month. Obama: pride month. Trump: apparently not. It seems that it's only observed by Democrats but not Republicans, which says a little something about the party.

  2. He only said he supported LGBT to get elected, as with all his campaign promises! He only cares about self-aggrandizement and all the wealth he can gather for himself! He cares not even for his family! This is so obvious!

  3. If you voted for Hump, shut the F-Up and deal with it, A-hole lovers you got the biggest A-hole around as president! Now shut the F-up and go hide back under a stonewall until his gone.

  4. Much like when Rob Ford was in power, I have to wonder what the heck people expected. Would they really be any happier if he faked his way through?

  5. I truly believe he thinks pandering to the far right benefits him. Sad. I think he's really more down the middle. But his desire for acceptance has skewed his logic.

  7. No one cares.

Plus it's not even the end of the second day of the month yet. Talk about rushing to complain.

  8. If Trump were truly a friend of gays, a couple of them would've redone his wig and makeup by now.

  9. Gee, it's almost as if we had a homophobic vice president in the White House.

  10. As if he would anyways. Those that thought otherwise are merely fools. Much like those fools that are fleeced of their money by his business antics.

  11. Why do people think he cares? He cares about nothing but money and praise.

  12. Who cares. I don't celebrate. I don't need a special day or month to celebrate who I am. Get on to something that matters

  13. Well he's the first president to enter office who supports them. Meanwhile obama and Hillary over time supported it when they didn't feel that way in the beginning
