SpaceX, Blue Origin will supply NASA with Moon-landing equipment
Americans are returning to the Moon in 2024, which means NASA's already planning for what it needs to get astronauts safely there.
On Thursday, the space agency announced that three U.S. partners will coordinate to deliver human landing system concepts for the lunar mission known as the Artemis program. That mission, which aims to land the first woman on the Moon, will help the agency to prepare for an eventual Mars trip.
SpaceX, Elon Musk's space transportation company, and Blue Origin, founded by Amazon's Jeff Bezos, were selected along with Dynetics, an Alabama-based company known for its reusable air systems.
Blue Origin will be designing a lander vehicle that will launch from its New Glenn rocket system and the ULA Vulcan launch vehicle. While SpaceX's Starship, a reusable launch vehicle, will work with the company's Super Heavy rocket booster to get humans to the Moon and help deliver cargo to its surface.
For the Artemis program, Starship will be modified for the lunar landscape. SpaceX will also be providing several Starships tailored for different purposes: One will store propellant, another will act as a tanker, while another will transport humans between different locations.
Now that NASA's private suppliers have been officially selected, we're one step closer to bringing humans back to the Moon.
You mean for the first time .
ReplyDeleteGod speed
ReplyDeleteI think since Trump is really into SPACE FORCE bigly and insists he's oober smart on all things (just ask him), he and Pence should lead by example and go first. They could even get matching hats😉.
ReplyDeletePeople still believe human landed in the moon 50 years ago..
ReplyDeletetragic.
Delete50 years ago, when electronic system by electron tube, human "landed" on the moon..
Why at supercomputer era, human so hard landing to the moon?
Not logic, right?
Good day everybody i am here to share with you my life experience how a great man called Dr goko saved me and my marriage.I have been Married & Barren for 5 years i had no child. i have never been pregnant i was a subject of laughter from my Friends & neighbors, i almost lost my marriage because of this issue.i was so confused that i did not know what to do until i came across this great Dr online and i contacted him at once i was scared weather it was going to work because i never believed things like this before, so i decided to give it a try and i did all what Dr goko asked of me and today to my greatest surprise i took in the first time and i gave birth to a bouncing baby boy and now my marriage that was about crashing before is now restored. my lover now love and want me better, Am so happy for everything that have been happening my life since i met this Dr goko. Thanks
ReplyDeleteNASA with the help of companies like Spacex plans to send the first woman to the moon soon in 2024.
ReplyDeleteAs a part of us, we are ready to question this journey and it is a war on our nation and the other section is ready to launch poems and notice on the moon that will be set on the moon.
I think that starship could host a comfortable living environment for astronauts, but a really like dynetics design as well, it looks like it would be a great design
ReplyDeleteThe Starship Enterprise would also be great with matter/ antimatter propulsion but like Space X's Starship are both fiction
Deletestarship will be ready before slsaurous.
DeleteYou want to put money on that big mouth. You mean the one blows up all that time LOL. Like taking candy from a baby.
DeleteLooks forward to seeing more of these and the final selection.
ReplyDeleteLooks forward to your analysis of the choices.
DeleteI feel like I've become much more informed since I started watching your videos, very much looking forward to hearing your thoughts on these designs
Delete3 teams, hope at least two of them will achieve their goals in time
ReplyDeleteSLS Rocket uhmmmmm
DeleteIff that could happened in future Well Done.Iff...
DeleteSpace Sheep why 2 why not all
Deleteim excited for what comes after we solve the logistics of staying on the lunar surface. mining/research projects is gonna launch us into the next stage of our evolution by making us a space faring species
ReplyDelete"Dynetics" - Whew! I thought they said "Dianetics"
ReplyDelete"Its dialectics man! you can't go to space on fractions!"
DeleteThat is the coolest thing ever imagine how much stress the astronauts have to go through big respect
ReplyDeleteDynetic's low slung design looks like an Eagle from Space 1999.
ReplyDeleteAbout a third of an Eagle - it needs another one bolted to the back...
ReplyDeleteGood call with removing the flaps from starship. Means they can shave weight off, because this will likely just be used for going back and forth to the lunar gateway, so they never have to worry about atmosphereic reentry.
ReplyDeleteWithout some kind of external drag (not lift) bodies, belly-flop descents followed by vertical landings would require much more propellant plus side-thrusters to land on Earth. For the Moon side thrusters are necessity. Mars landing would be feasible without them.
DeleteI wonder if SpaceX proposed that Starship become both lander AND gateway. It's big enough to also serve as a gateway. Either way, it doesn't appear that it will return to Earth.
DeleteThis Starship variant is only for Lunar transport in every part of the colony.
DeleteGood point. So they should have different versions of starship for different mission profiles like mars starship needs those flaps since mars has an atmosphere and moon starship might or might not need it based on whether it is intended to return to earth or not
DeleteI’m just excited for better footage from the lunar surface.
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to 2024 NASA.
ReplyDeleteOne small step was made. One giant leap was accomplished. Now let’s shoot for the stars!!
After that giant leap, NASA spent 50 years tripping- over its own feet.
DeleteSo exploring other planets remotely, the ISS, the Hubble and the Shuttle program were nothing?
DeleteNow that NASA has SpaceX involved, they might meet their schedule.
ReplyDeleteWow.. Starship... so impressive..
ReplyDeleteGo with StarShip
ReplyDeleteno need to play backgrund music
ReplyDeleteAs a teenager, I really hope to work for nasa some day, and I know there are many other teenagers with a passion for space as well. Our generation has hope.
ReplyDeleteyou can do it man. my brother went to college wanting to get into space stuff and he ended up working at spacex with his best friend.
Deletehow many years did that take
Deletei want to see starship on the moon
ReplyDeleteWhen NASA is done playing political games, I want to see it come back, get put on another Heavy and sent to Mars!
ReplyDeleteThey’re supposed to do a demo landing in 2022, so not too long of a wait.
DeleteI suppose starship will be tested so rigorously by then that it's the best choice.
ReplyDeleteLanding in 4 years with a lander that doesn't exist yet? I like that 1960s boldness and optimism, hope it works out.
ReplyDeleteI"m liking the "low slung" approach.
