Elon Musk wants to turn Cybertrucks into boats

Yes, you read that right.

Tesla's Cybertrucks finally landed at the end of November, and as well as being faster than Porsche 911s the giant, gleaming monstrosities also come with bulletproof doors and several different trims.

But there are some things they can't do, and one of those things is turn into a boat. At least, not yet.

Earlier this week, Tesla owner Elon Musk teased a future mod for the Tesla Cybertruck that will apparently allow it to – you guessed it – traverse water.

"We are going to offer a mod package that enables Cybertruck to traverse at least 100m of water as a boat," Musk posted on X. "Mostly just need to upgrade cabin door seals."

Admittedly the sentence "mostly just need to upgrade cabin door seals" doesn't fill the heart with confidence, and when combined with the many delays the Cybertruck itself faced we can't imagine the Cyberboat is going to be seeing the light of day anytime soon.

Would having a car that briefly becomes a boat serve any practical purpose whatsoever? Almost certainly not, but then again practicality probably isn't top of the Cybertruck owner wishlist.

  6. The vehicle has a radical new design. It just never should have been called a pickup. It’s going to be that beast on the roads we saw with the Hummer H2. Engineers can convert anything into a boat. But will it fly?

  7. "Mostly just need to upgrade cabin door seals."

And for actual propulsion, what are you going to do, stick your hands out the window and paddle?

  8. Because if there's one thing we know works out great for boats, it is large and uneven gaps between body panels.

  9. Perhaps he should focus on making a truck that actually works first.

  10. I am so tired of hearing what Elon Musk wants.

  11. He should make it a boat and then try to make it a car.

  12. Well he’s already ruined the look of cars, why not hit the boats and planes next?

    6. LOL. I'm 56 and I retired a few years ago. Paid off my house, and bought a couple of GOOD cars, and an RV. Now I travel around going to concerts. Check my profile. You be you, though - but you know those Tesla builds are garbage, and Elon Musk didn't start that company or invent anything.

Unfortunately, people worship the rich, for no other reason than being a trust fund baby, prone to tantrums.
