  11. First, I can love my country and hate the way it's being led, for the most part. In my opinion, we're being led down the road to fascism and that's because I read! And I understand what I've read. Second, do NOT tell me to leave my country because I don't approve of the current government. I choose instead to stay and fight for what I believe is the right way to accomplish an agenda. Third, given the misspellings and absolutely horrific grammar I see here, dismantling departments like the Department of Education is just ludicrous. Fourth, having read the Art of the Deal, it is rife with Nazi propaganda such as "If you repeat a lie often enough, it becomes the truth." And, finally, free speech is part of the Constitution and should never be impeded by anyone or anything! There's no need to dig up McCarthy; he's alive and well and living in the Oval Office in the form of a man who despises criticism and uses revenge and threats to get his way.

The Chinese government has access to every keystroke you ever type in any app on your phone. Your private notes, your private photos, your private messages. There’s a massive difference.

      Delete
    4. Not really that massive. They're asking to carve out the 1st amendment, and have carte blanche authority to decide who would be a "bad fit" for becoming a citizen based off their social.

Prime example that SHOULD be outlandish but at this point is sadly realistic:

Trump Admin looks at social account of prospective citizen, sees they have made pro DEI posts and are members of pro DEI clubs - classifies those clubs as terrorists, bans them.

Trump Admin looks at social account of prospective citizen, sees they have made pro Don't-Invade-Greenland-you-idiot posts and are part of some of those groups, classifies those clubs as terrorists, bans them.

This is a TERRIBLE, authoritarian move.

You said, "who in their right mind would want to come here now?" and that is what I was responding to. This move is clearly an attempt to prevent people who are critical of Trump and Republicans from coming here, and certainly most of those people would not even wish to come given where we are as a country. I'm sure a lot of Americans would leave if they had the means. Just because something is a boneheaded waste of time doesn't mean that Trump and his people won't try to do it, at least until it gets blocked in the courts.
