My 9 yr old niece is allowed to have a tiktok account that she posts herself dancing on and it scares the shit out of me because I’m not sure I trust her mom to properly police it and protect her. I wouldn’t give my 9yr old a phone with internet access anyways but I understand life is different now than when I was a kid/teen…

I started to use TikTok as a means to boycott most possible US services and goods after Trump took power, and TikTok is owned by ByteDance. I've investigated what would be acquired by US investors and Larry Ellison, and as far as I know, TikTok's operation in Europe is not part of the US operation, that way still in ByteDance's ownership.
Alphabet, Meta, and all the others have always and will continue to sell that data to China and whoever else. That was the real issue here, a Chinese company was eating into American company profits.
