I'm gonna go out on a limb and say he wont get the flags lowered like they did for Charlie Kirk, who did .000000001% for people that Jesse Jackson did.
I wish we had young black men with the same drive compassion empathy tenacity as jesse. Not since Obama have we had a caring president who actually cares about ALL people. I appreciate and admire what our young men of color in politics today are trying to do. Just doesn’t seem like enough 😢
This is the same guy who got arrested twice trying to revoke the filibuster that is currently serving as the only check to power - truly a visionary.
The same guy who slept with all his secretaries basically while shouting down everyone else for their white privilege, yeah not the role model we looking for.
I might not have agreed with everything he said and did, he was a major contributor to the Civil Rights movement, standing with John Lewis next to Martin Luther King Jr. while he gave his speeches.
I remember he came to my city and basically called all the white people racist, because at one point in time it was a sun down town. It’s a sad sad part of the history of a town that the people today no longer take part in.
Sat a table over from him at a high class Chicago steakhouse. I haven’t thought about that in 17 years. I wonder if Obama was there. He had a whole entourage.
.He had such a quiet power on screen, the kind that stays with you long after the movie ends. A long life, a remarkable body of work, and a legacy that clearly meant a lot to people. Rest in peace.
I always thought that Jackson was just a third string MLK. Never saw him influence anything other than himself. In later life he focused on extorting corporations for cash.
Yes, Jesse Jackson is not the "king" of Black people. While Jesse Jackson (who passed away on February 17, 2026) was a towering figure in the American Civil Rights Movement, a presidential candidate, and a prominent activist for over 50 years, no single individual acts as a monarch or sole representative for the diverse community of Black people in America
In 2012 my sister met him on a plane when she was flying home to be with the family as my father was dying. He gave her his contact info. Moments before we let my dad go, she called him and he prayed with us. It was a very kind and personally generous act.
No idea about him but rest in peace but we as Indians say om shanti bhagwan aapki atma ko shanti dee Devudu me atma shanti chandalani ivvalani korkuntam in Hindi and Telugu
Good riddance. If you ever met the guy you would know just how much of an asshole he was in person. Hopefully this signals the end of people who profit off of racial division, and hate. Very rarely did anyone's life get better but his. Especially compared to icons like Rosa parks, Ruby bridges, and MLK who actually made the world a better place.
My grandfather once lost his job because this guy stood outside of the museum he was working for blocking the trucks on the way in. Contract got pulled, and things got tough putting food on the table after that.
When I read "Jackson," I first thought it was one of Michael Jackson's brothers, then when I saw the picture I thought it was Michael Jackson's father.
I've never heard of Jesse Jackson, the "civil rights icon."
My coke dealer was once called to a house in Beverly Hills. Upon arrival to a party, the home owner invited him inside. Mouse entered the service entrance not to disturb the well dressed people of this fundraiser. He was under dressed and waited in the kitchen where he could snack on fine foods. The limo arrived with the guest of honor. Through the serving window Mouse watched Jesse Jacksons entourage enter the home. Jackson summoned all the partygoers to the main room. Jackson announced to the room "We all know why we're here. Get your checkbooks out. I will walk around and mingle with you all. We'll have a fantastic dinner and by the time I leave I expect to have $100,000 in my hand." Mouse said his jaw dropped seeing how straight forward Jesse flat told them what he expected, so everyone could enjoy the evening. Mouse has passed away from old age. His club is no more. I'm thankful this ricketty old black guy shared this story with me.
Now we just need Louis Farrakhan to die and we've gotten rid of two of the most racist people in America and while we're at let's add David Duke to this list
When i heard Jesse Jackson passed i ruminated on how different the wold was back then as he had a child out of Wedlock and it discluded him from running for president. Now a days the president paid off a pornstar and maga did not beat an eye. But realistically as a black man, he's held to an inscrutable standard and he'd still be excoriated today....
I was in a newly integrated high school when he was becoming popular with Operation Push. “I am somebody .” resonated with all my classmates.
Somewhere along the way he lost his way and became a racial ambulance chaser and grifter. I was so disappointed because he could’ve been another MLK and continued the mission. He openly appeared in public with his mistress even though he was married. I could go on but I can’t help but think about the potential he had and what might have been.
This is an ideal take. He did a lot of bad things or at least messed up things in his life. He did a lot of admirable things in his life. He was human. Rest in peace.
Today we must balance the tears of sorrow with the tears of joy. Mix the bitter with the sweet in death and life. Jackie as a figure in history was a rock in the water, creating concentric circles and ripples of new possibility. He was medicine. He was immunized by God from catching the diseases that he fought. The Lord's arms of protection enabled him to go through dangers seen and unseen, and he had the capacity to wear glory with grace. Jackie's body was a temple of God. An instrument of peace. We would watch him disappear into nothingness and stand back as spectators, and watch the suffering from afar. The mercy of God intercepted this process Tuesday and permitted him to steal away home, where referees are out of place, and only the supreme judge of the universe speaks. - Jesse Jackson
Very iconic figure. Was there at the assosination of MLK and lived a full life. He kinda of was jettisoned for the hot mike moment in the Obama era, but he fought for his people for decades and cannot tell the story of America without noting his contributions.
My friend said to me as a kind of joke that maybe god is trying to quietly call all the good people home who did what they could before this place truly goes to shit, a kind of rapture on the low.
We both laughed, but then we were raised in the same kind of religious environment so both looked at each other like WAIIIIT NO.
Then I wake up to this news, and I'm a little bit more worried. Not really. Maybe.
May the Reverend rest in power, his work to make life better for the poor and his civil right work will never be forgotten.
My sister and I were just talking about this; she said “I think a lot of people’s spirits are just tired and actually saying ‘you know what, I’m good. I don’t need to be here for this.’” And I completely agree, the more these headlines come up.
Jessie Jackson will always be remembered as a fierce advocate for voting rights. Thank you Jessie for fighting the good fight while helping to pave the way for Americans like the ones we see protesting in Minnesota today against those within our borders who seek to destroy not only our voting rights but all of Americans rights under the Constitution.
I applaud you for keeping your channels open to receive anything coming from that place. I’ve shut down any and everything related to the chaos in DC and only see bits and pieces on Reddit. This time around, I’ve prioritized my peace. FDT!

ReplyDeleteIf they can arrest a prince they can arrest the clown trump also
ReplyDeleteIs this the same Jesse Jackson who was on the same hotel floor when MLK was murdered?
ReplyDeleteI remember seeing an old SNL bit of Rev. Jesse Jackson reading Green Eggs and Ham by Dr. Seuss in his usual style.
ReplyDeleteThe man had a sense of humor.
He was an extortionist.
ReplyDeleteNo more race grifting. I guess Hým1ë Town is finally going to be closing for good. 🫡
ReplyDeleteRest.In.Power. Thanks for your service to the Country 💔🇺🇸
ReplyDeleteThe best Jesse is Jesse Peterson
ReplyDeleteWhy didn't Trump order flags at half staff?

Nobody who ever did good was a true saint
DeleteThought he died years or rather decades ago like most of the other civil rights leaders 🫥
ReplyDeleteDid some good did some bad. Not going to pretend he was a saint. Rip
ReplyDeleteI might not have agreed with everything he said and did, he was a major contributor to the Civil Rights movement, standing with John Lewis next to Martin Luther King Jr. while he gave his speeches.
ReplyDeleteA guy who conned money out of people to enrich himself? Boohoo.
ReplyDeleteWow another unexpected passing of 2026
ReplyDeleteRIP
There will be a Rainbow over his funeral, or maybe not...🌈
ReplyDeleteDoesn't affect me in any way...
ReplyDeleteIt did enough for you to write an actual comment, ever think of that?
DeleteWas Eve even a Reverend? 🤷🏾♂️
ReplyDeleteFormer football player at Illinois before transferring and becoming an activist
ReplyDeleteCool. Another crooked douche.
ReplyDeleteI got to meet the Reverend Dr Jackon when he spoke at my college. The best orator I have ever heard.

ReplyDeleteAnd can we forget “hymie town”?
ReplyDeleteMet him while working a secret service event at UNGA in Manhattan, September of either 2013 or 2014. Sadly, he was a total asshole
ReplyDeleteRIP Jesse Jackson. I'll never forget your fight for the Florida A&M University students who were denied their right to vote in year 2000.

DeleteWe lost a real one today. Remember to cause good trouble ❤️
ReplyDeleteI remember Jesse Jackson hated white people, was that true?
ReplyDeleteHe also accused Barack Obama of “Acting like he’s, white.” So I’m pretty sure Jesse Jackson was a race hustler
DeleteHe 100% was
DeleteWho will monetize division now
ReplyDeleteCadet BoneSpurs has been doing it his whole life.
DeleteIt's a shame he had to die seeing the united states go backwards
ReplyDeleteNothing of value has been lost. First of the race hustlers.
