  1. $100 is good at its best, anyone complaining clearly is just a low ball cheapscape.

  2. I wouldn’t describe aesthetic customisations as key features

    ReplyDelete
  3. People still believe this will not be a woke infested diarrhea. Lol.

    ReplyDelete
  4. Unisex?

    God…. God isn’t with us

    ReplyDelete
  5. Seems like a fair price to me. It’s going to be far more of an enjoyable experience than most of the slop that gets pumped out these days at similar prices. Physical copies are coming a few months after. They limit them on launch to stop game leaks.

    ReplyDelete
  6. The thing is, only GTA has the cultural clout to do this. If anyone is delusional enough to think even dorks would pay $100 for their COD or FIFA slop, they have another thing coming.

    ReplyDelete
  7. RDR2 did the exact same thing. Gang hideouts, guns, horses, and side missions were locked behind the Ultimate Edition. GTA V even had the blimp locked behind a pre-order bonus. Unfortunately, the days of getting a complete game on a disc are long gone — and these days, there's not even a disc. But despite all that, the game will still sell millions, make billions, and pretty much everyone here will end up playing it one way or another, sooner or later. It is what it is.

    ReplyDelete
  8. It is the ultimate normie game. Normies will eat this shit like it's vanilla ice cream. It will break records, it will set new standards for game prices, it will be the new "normal". Because normies. This is why we can't have nice things and why gatekeeping used to be a good thing.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I was watching a video on pork production and the pigs in a long line penned into their cages gorging on slop reminded me of normies

  9. Not playing is winning

    ReplyDelete
  10. Now, imagine if just the strip club was also locked behind an extra $20 on top of the Ultimate Edition.
The $100 just give you the option to unlock it afterwards.
Gotta see those new graphics lap dances, right boys?

    Hire me Take-Two.

    ReplyDelete
  11. We should really be upset with this but people are too blinded by the GTA hype, that they unknowingly encourage bad business practice. Sure GTA 6 might be worth 100$ but now EA and Ubi will think their games are worth that too because why not?

    ReplyDelete
  12. This is insane to me, basically the 100$ version is the real base edition. I fucking hate the state of gaming.

    ReplyDelete
  13. GTA 6 is trash and fuck Rockstar

    ReplyDelete
  14. What happens when you call one of the most mediocre games in the industry amazing incessantly even when it's been shitting itself back to back

    ReplyDelete
  15. didn't buy GTA5 because of console exclusivity, won't be buying this crap either.

    ReplyDelete
  16. They know they can get away with it and that many people will pay extra to get the ultimate edition. Just look at the last Forza Horizon and how many people got the top edition. GTA is several times bigger.

    ReplyDelete
  17. I literally can't wait for this game to be released and not buying it on day one (or year one) I'll pay no more than 20 for the complete edition on pc (I don't care how many years it takes)

    ReplyDelete
  18. It is amazing how fast Rockstar turned people against GTA6 and killed most of the hype for that game.

    ReplyDelete
  19. And the game itself is already going to be $80. This confirms that Nintendo was only the first test run, they're going to see if $80 can become normalized. The industry can't crash soon enough.

    ReplyDelete
  20. I can't wait to play this game in 5 years

    ReplyDelete
  21. Don't ask questions, just consume product.

I don't think the concept is new, it's basically like DLC worded differently. Instead of saying you are getting access to extra things, they tell you be missing out of key content.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Broke boy problems! Couldn’t be me!

    ReplyDelete
  23. Sailing the high seas for this

    ReplyDelete
  24. Okay so I thought ALL car mod shops, tattoo shops, salons, etc. would be locked behind the Ultimate Edition, but it turns out it's just these select shops. I understand why someone would think this is bad, but it's basically just cosmetic DLC that exists in sooooo many other games, and you get all that shit for just $20 extra.

I know the base price of $80 is already overpriced though, but I'm not buying this game anyway so whatever.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Ahhh reason 10 I won't be buying this game

    ReplyDelete
  26. Well good for a minority of gamers like me who dont find GTA interesting anymore.

    ReplyDelete
  27. 80 dollar game, have to pay 20 extra dollars to unlock basic shit like all the shops.

Its a 100-dollar game just like people said it would be. I suspect this stuff is why the game isnt on PC day 1, PC users would just have modded this stuff back into the game day 1 like it should have been.

    ReplyDelete
  28. This is kind of a canary in the coal mine kind of thing. I'm expecting this to be a soulless husk of an excuse for a GTA, I truly hope I'm wrong but I expect this to be so woke it will make some people physically sick.

    ReplyDelete
  29. I hope Rockstar nickel and dimes every single one of their fanboys.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Yeah, that's the experience I'm looking for after spending $80 on a game: in-game reminders that I should've spent another $20.

    ReplyDelete
  31. game looks so fuckin bad. shame on anyone here that buys this garbage, of which im sure there will be many.

forget the pricing and gaurenteed shitshow the future monetization will be; anyone that doesnt instantly disqualify this dumpster fire from the trailer alone should seriously ask themselves what they're doing in this sub.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Remember when you used to wait at least a year for dlc

    ReplyDelete
  33. Rockstar are the only ones who CAN do this shit and i would still buy it. More than 2 decades of bangers makes people loyal.

    ReplyDelete

    1. Don't forget to swallow.

      Delete
    2. Consoomer mindset lmao. There's no loyalty, r* sees you only as a freely opened wallet.

I haven't touched a r* game for over 10 years. Greed ruining their track record of enjoyable games.

There's just so many other games and media for me to spend my time and money on.

      Delete
    3. To be fair RDR2 was a VERY good game, don't sleep on it

      Delete
    4. I disagree. Yes, it looked absolutely beautiful and was incredibly detailed. Unfortunately the story just wasn't very good. I couldn't get invested into any of the characters.

      Delete
    5. This is the intersection point they're counting on. They're going to milk it for all it's worth because the AAA market obliteration is imminent with AI.

      Delete
  34. "key features" lmao

    ReplyDelete
  35. They're also bundling GTA+ with both versions with auto renewal turned on by default.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Aren't these just skins? Extra skins and similar cosmetics have been "ultimate" edition add ons for a long time. It doesn't seem like too big of a deal to me. That said, i never get heavily into modifying my characters looks in any game so maybe I am missing something.

    ReplyDelete
  37. They are really using that FOMO psychology. With 20 dollar difference, I think all the people who was going to buy it anyway, they will all buy the 100 dollar version.

    ReplyDelete
  38. I'm so happy I have a jailbroken PS5; I won't give a single penny to that shitty, woke Take-Two.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Good thing I'm retiring this hobby after Final Fantasy VII Revelation (I just want to see something to the end, okay. Not a censorship lover or anything just personal reasons)

    ReplyDelete
  40. Some cosmetics are key features?

    ReplyDelete
  41. Ah so you do need to pay 100 bucks for the full game. Day one DLC is garbage and ill be laughing at all the consoomers who are so easily parted from their money.

    ReplyDelete
  42. It started with horse armor.

    ReplyDelete
  43. This is only the beginning. GTA V sales aren't what made Rockstar so successful, shark cards are. VI's going to be an MTX hellscape within months of release, even if they soften the blow on day 1 to avoid outrage, as is becoming common.

    1. My guess is they will make you play gta online in vice city only if you buy their trash gta+ subscription

    2. Agreed, this is absolutely just the tip of the iceberg in predatory monetization for this game.

As a PC gamer it makes me glad they're making the decision for me not to get this shakedown of a game as I eat popcorn and watch how egregious it gets.

  45. Feels like a prime opportunity for an indie game to pop up that channels the whole crime sandbox thing with half the price.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Can we honestly say this is any different than any other game including cosmetic pre-order bonuses. All they are doing is restricting the use of the cosmetics via a store instead of a menu. Yeah it's shitty, but it's nothing new.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Another reason not to buy it

    ReplyDelete
  48. If you're gonna buy it, go to Costco and get the $100 PS cards for $80 and the upgrade is free.

    1. They are not locking features behind any paywalls. The ultimate edition has content that is exclusive to it, but instead of handing it out in a boring way like most games do (by having the items in a chest or just dumping them into your inventory), it will be available to you as actual locations. So an additional tattoo salon that is only available in the ultimate edition and so on. The features themselves are still available in-game, but the ultimate edition has additional variants of these features. Hope that makes it clear.

This is still scummy as hell, don't get me wrong, but the title of this post is extremely misleading.

EDIT: downvoted for facts. Nice, the sub is truly on its' retardmaxxing journey.

  52. When this shitshow flops. What needs to happen is to former rockstar story writers who left the company due to wokefication need to come up with new competitive IP and game that has basically oldschool GTA story writing in it. No online. Just kick as singleplayer sandbox game. That would sell like hotcakes. Fuck this shit.

    1. That's what jumped out to me. Not that there's anything wrong with them, but the wording and need to proclaim it is just screaming of DEI nonsense in the game.

      Delete
    2. its sad too because there are so many creative ways to say it instead of dry bathroom stall sign "unisex"

      Delete
    3. Don't think I've even heard of a "non-unisex" saloon in a game

      Delete
    4. Unisex salon means they cut and style both sexes 😆 what's weird about it? That phrase has been in use well before the world wars 😂

      Delete
    5. Because typical salons are unisex? Its the special salons that would be gender specific

      Delete
    6. Because "unisex salon" here means all the hairstyles are going to be gender-neutral.

      Delete
    7. They’re brainwashed and glued to screens…anyone complaining about DEI in games usual are

      Delete
    8. I mean how would that be a surprise? Rockstar caved to Collective Shout (Australian Feminazi group) and removed certain things from GTA Online, like the crossdressers in front of that one club and an action figure...yes, an action figure! RDR2 was already woke as shit as well.
Imran Sarwar (Director of Design) was fired from Rockstar for "toxic masculinity" and "bullying"

    2. I buy like two games per year and feel $100 for ultimate is a very reasonable ask. Sometimes it feels like this sub is all broke teenagers who don't understand how to value things. The game isn't the same scale as an annual COD release and that costs almost the same amount.

      Delete
    3. Digital of course huh? Also are you American?

    7. Not every AAA studio can get away with it. Can't even think of one game that can get away with it beside GTA VI

      Delete
    8. EA and 2K especially can get away with it, considering how braindead a lot of sports gamers are

      Delete
    9. Lol good point.

      Delete
    10. Sports games have been getting away with it for a decade+

Braindead consoomers buy it every year.

      Delete
    11. Lol explains why I buy EA FC every 2-3 years. Last 2K I bought was when Luka was on the cover and before that, can't even remember. Last WWE game was the one with Rey on it. But sports should be one main game with yearly/seasonal roster updates. But yeah, lotta braindeads buy those religiously

      Delete
    12. Usually the owners of the license mandate a yearly game.

But EA WRC tried that model of one base game with paid season updates. The whole thing flopped and the decades old rally game studio got shut down by EA with almost everyone laid off. Their former offices are now used by a new EA FC team.

      Delete
    13. Sport games have no competition licenses. And GTA is probably the biggest IP gaming.

Monetarily for GTA, there ability to make players stick around for online gameplay is what's going to determine their success or failure.

Take Two, not Nintendo, is why the entire industry wants to raise prices again while blaming everything under the sun for it.

      Delete
    8. Strauss Zelnick said 10 or 15 years ago already that if he could, he would charge 100 dollars for his games because he thinks that's fair. 10. Hot take, but i never thought 100 was too much to pay for a game.

I used to go out often, and would easily spend 200 a night.

If a game can give you 30 hours of quality play, that's 3.3 dollars an hour. If you play online mode too and end up putting hundreds of hours in....

Witcher 3 (my fav game of all time) i think I paid 80 for it, and put in 300 hours.

That averages out to 26 cents per hour lol.

      Delete
    11. Now think of how many less hours you spent on other stuff. I probably put 100 hours into it, but I also probably put 200 hours into vampire survivors and it was $4. Then the new 007 was $70 and 12 hours

      Delete
    12. Good news. There is no indicator that Take Two will post a profit next year, as GTA6 would have to sell an unrealistic amount of copies in half a year's time for that to happen. He'll be ousted.

      Delete
    13. What a disgusting egotistical man

      Delete
    3. If you happen to have 200-250 gigs of space handy... for the rest of us plebs here, very few games are worth that much. Crimson Desert takes up 130, and it's acceptable because the game is halfway decent and the devs at least try to fix the problems.

      Delete
    4. They'll probably put Denuvo DRM on it which will take 6 months to crack

      Delete
    5. Rockstar uses their own DRM not Denuvo. Which is pretty strong as it took 1 year to crack RDR2. And I’m sure they’ve invested to improve it since then

      Delete
    6. All Denuvo games have been cracked. If it had come out a year ago you would be right, but right now it'll probably take 1 day for a hypervisor crack and 2 weeks for a normal crack. That's what happened with 007 first light. Of course, they could improve denuvo in the meantime, but that's how things stand right now.

      Delete
    7. Pc release isn't any time soon and there'll be DRM for sure

    8. I've become too lazy to pirate stuff. If it's not worth my money, it's probably not worth my time, either.

    9. Piracy is the easiest it's ever been, go on a legit site that's easy to find, direct download any game, great download speeds got elden ring in like 20 minutes. No need to vpn like torrents

      Delete
    10. It's been over a decade since I paid any attention to this stuff. I assume you only can access single player content and all online content is unavailable, is that right?

      Delete
    11. In the vast majority of cases yes, some multiplayer games do work even pirated though, like among us, or games like black ops 2 where most people are playing on third party servers

      Delete
    12. Too lazy?
Pirating is often easier than having the game legit.

      Delete
    13. Watch the reviews first. Maybe you will not even want to get it.

      Delete
    14. yep, the file size alone is likely to be an onerous commitment. Wouldnt be surprised if it was 200GB, which would be an utter pain in the ass on the game library these days when SSD prices are through the roof.

    18. On extremely old firmware allowing only older games to be played. So yeah, not a viable option. Good luck getting a PS5 that hasn't been updated past the required firmware as well. If you do, what you can play is very limited

    7. Basically the DLC items have their own exclusive barber shop, tattoo shop, etc. Those shops are locked. The base game shops are unlocked if that makes sense.

  78. I'll be pirating this as soon as it hits pc, definitely not pouring more money into their accounts

    1. Ive got other things to play, dont even feel the need to bother pirating it.

  79. People are taking this way out of proportion. I am not defending Rockstar, they’ve done some shit I don’t like as a consumer but It’s legit cosmetics that have a dedicated interior and a set of collectibles. People are acting like you wont be able to customise the characters or their vehicles if they don’t buy the ultimate edition. It’s $20. Rockstar is definitely greedy but there isn’t anything inherently greedy about this. What would be greedy is actually locking integral features behind a paywall, not cosmetics.
Rockstar definitely could’ve worded it more towards today’s intellectual levels but it’s really not that hard to use your brain and extrapolate the meaning. RDR2 had an ultimate edition with a couple missions and the best horse in the game in chapter 2

  80. I will buy the cheaper version a day before release. once the game is out and I can see specifically what the "premium" hairstyles, car mods, clothing etc are online, I will decide if I want to pay the extra $20 to upgrade. This seems significantly more logical than just blindly dropping the $100 right now 5 months in advance when I still dont know much about the game

    ReplyDelete
  81. Nah I’m still getting $80 version

    ReplyDelete
  82. Yeah it sucks an $80 game has content that's not available, but are we really acting like games locking stuff behind a "deluxe" edition hasn't been the norm for years now?

    ReplyDelete
  83. The launch prices are only an amuse-bouche for what they will be charging for online stuff.

I would guess they are going to exploit online players for all they are worth this time around.

If they spent 2 billion on this game you can be sure they want to make double or triple that back ASAP.

It will be interesting to see how deep the single player is. If it's pretty shallow and this game if mostly focused on multiplayer this could be the first GTA game I haven't bought. I have zero interest in online.

I hope that doesn't happen though, I have loved all the GTA games all the way back to the first top down version.

  84. This is a flashpoint in human history. principium finis

  85. The game is 5 months from being released and people are freaking out. It’s just a game. This is not the big deal that most people are making it out to be.

Don’t forget…The devs aren’t part of the marketing. TTWO is a publicly traded stock. You don’t get a 1 Billion Dollar budget without greasing a few investors.

Gotta take the good with the bad.

  87. video games are gonna have a big downfall in the future because of this shit

    ReplyDelete
  88. honestly this feels like they wanted to make it $80, but someone went "well shit, thats not gonna go over well, we gotta find shit to remove" and just got rid of whatever sounded fair.

    ReplyDelete
  89. Pretty sure they wanted to screw the bettors about the game being $100 haha

    ReplyDelete
  90. Yup looks like I won't be buying GTA 6 lol, I already wasn't going to as $80 for a digital only game is something I will simply never do now I'm definitely never going to be playing it just out of principle

    ReplyDelete
  91. 5 was $60 not $70.

  92. It's a day 1 dlc? This isn't a new precedent, countless games have done this

    ReplyDelete
  93. Rockstar is an exception to the gaming industry. They can charge what they want and the fans will pay. They earned it. Also, the game reportedly cost 2 billion to make so.. your getting a premuim product with your $100 not just some yearly release.

    ReplyDelete
  94. Meh, I would have bought the game if it was £100 base and £140 for the ultimate edition.

    ReplyDelete
  95. When it comes out on pc ill get all this stuff for free ⛵️

    ReplyDelete
  96. Doesn't dlc work like this though in some cases?

    ReplyDelete
  97. I'm glad I have a library of over 600 games to play so I can avoid this nonsense.

I'll buy it on PC in 4 or 5 years when it goes on sale for $30.

    ReplyDelete
  98. & this is true because you say it is?

    ReplyDelete
  99. good little consumers are going to buy it tho, no other option really than just don’t play at all

    ReplyDelete
  100. U pay 100 for a game that probably has more content then 3 games and cost more then 10x most games and I gonna cry for 20.00 u kids need to rage about something else. Lmao. No this will not be the new normal becomes gta transcends gaming and is its own thing.

  101. This is how companies have been doing it for years to not touch that mythical 60-70$ game base price. Deluxe editions are always filled with useless trinkets people dont use after a mere hour of gameplay but somehow must have.

    FOMO is a strong effect.

    1. it's something where these companies hire litteral phsycologists to find out how to get the most out of their players

  102. Reading the list of things locked to the premium edition it's not that substantial IMO

  103. Worst part - because it's GTA VI, one of the most hyped up games in history, it's not going to heavily decrease sales, and I'm afraid other developers will see this approach works and start using it as well...

    1. thats what makes it so greedy. its not like RS needs to worry about making their money back tenfold on sales alone.

  104. Gate-keeping content

    No proper physical copies

Free month of GTA+ sub which also "auto-renews"

They could earn huge amount of money even without milking consumers

    ReplyDelete
  105. The only reason they made a Standard Edition was to avoid headlines about the game costing $100.
