The Tim Cook era of Apple has come to an end.
Today, August 31, 2026, is Tim Cook's final day as CEO of Apple, and the outgoing Apple chief had some emotional parting words to share on social media.
"Sending lots of love to the Apple community on my last day as CEO," Cook posted on the social media platform X. "My title changes tomorrow, but the love I have for the Apple community never will. Thank you for being a constant source of inspiration. My gratitude is endless, and I’m excited for the next chapter!"
Tim Cook held the position at Apple for 15 years, taking over as CEO after Steve Jobs departed in August 2011, shortly before his passing the following October. Starting Sept. 1, Cook's new position within the company will be as executive chairman of Apple's board of directors.
Cook will be succeeded by incoming Apple CEO John Ternus, the company's current Senior Vice President of Hardware Engineering. At 50 years old, Ternus is the same age Cook was when he took over as Apple CEO.

Under Cook, Apple saw the launch of some of its most popular product categories, such as AirPods and the Apple Watch. Cook also led the company as it completely relaunched its computer product lines, ranging from MacBooks to desktop Macs, with Apple's own Silicon chipset.
Apple became a trillion-dollar company under Tim Cook's leadership as well.
Cook also had to navigate the company through difficult global geopolitical issues, which led to some interesting moments, such as when President Donald Trump referred to the Apple CEO as "Tim Apple." Cook responded at the time by changing his profile name on then-Twitter to "Tim ."
Ternus's first big Apple event at the helm will take place on Sept. 9, when the company is expected to launch its new line of iPhones, including its first-ever foldable device.

ReplyDeleteFuck Tim apple the maga cuck!

ReplyDeleteGood riddance, and thanks for the AirPods and Watch
I know it’s not surprising that he’ll have the role of executive director, but I’m wondering how much money he’ll make and why? Doesnt he have enough money? And isn’t the point of retiring to let someone else execute their vision for the company? I can understand that maybe having cook around for a year or two would be helpful for a successor. Maybe that’s all this is? I guess it just seems like these people make tons of money and their reward is a ceremonial position where they continue making a ton of meeting while at the same time the company is probably trying to reduce its labor costs. When is enough enough for these people?
ReplyDeleteTime for Johnny Appleseed
ReplyDeleteWhat a run!
ReplyDeleteRIP Tim, Steve Jobs would have genuinely hated what you turned Apple into. You inherited one of the most focused, product-driven companies on Earth and spent 15 years sanding away everything that made it special until it became a trillion-dollar slop factory built around incremental refreshes, endless segmentation, subscriptions, accessories, and extracting another dollar from an installed base.
ReplyDeleteYou were phenomenal at monetizing Steve Jobs' Apple. You were considerably worse at preserving it. Jobs wouldn't even waste the energy spitting at you.
A surgical strike of a comment! That guy tim poop, didn't take any risks at all.

Deletewelcome john apple
ReplyDeleteNow show us the one he wrote to the shareholders.
ReplyDeleteThat’s classified
DeleteHopefully this is good bye to Apple never innovating except in the banking sector…I’m so happy Schiller is leaving. F that guy…sorry I’m just using my “courage”

Meh. First two thirds of his tenure was BRILLIANT. Yet he leaves on a sound bite that while I’m sure is “authentically” written, still sounds as about as AI is it comes in terms of where he left his legacy…uninspiring, not accessible to the lay person, and about as far from what the “think different” and 1984 stood for.
ReplyDeleteTim Cook started as an inspiration in the most impossible of shoes to fill, and yet he did it!! All to throw it away as a sell out in the most inaccessible era of apple tech ever.
Honestly apple’s products are still incredible, it just makes me sad that Cook chose to end on making everything apple stood for as inaccessible as ever.

DeleteLooking forward to people comparing John unfavourably to Tim. At least this time we have infinite reddit posts to point to when we say “you guys hated Tim, remember”
ReplyDeleteWow! Tim Cook bows out and leaves the new CEO with his first big decision of political consequence with whether to change the name of Lake Ontario in Maps.
ReplyDeleteWho else read all that in his voice?
ReplyDeleteOne of the rare moments when an old person gives up the reigns for fresh news ideas.
ReplyDeleteWhat Tim did, following up with Steve to scale and position Apple as the most valuable, or second most valuable consistently, and keeping the image of Apple being the brand with privacy in mind is a major feat.
End of an era, look forward to seeing what John can do
ReplyDeleteFirst action is to sack Tim.
Deletei hope so. he just put thousands of at home phone support workers out of jobs to replace them with AI.
DeleteUgh. :( can’t get a new iphone anyway now they’re being chipped by 🇮🇱
ReplyDeletewhere does one turn after an iphone for 15 years..
Some other conspiracist can probably give you advice.
DeleteWill it continue to pander to the President in his new position, or will the next CEO take over that responsibility?
ReplyDeleteI wonder what nickname Trump will come up with John lmao.
ReplyDeleteJohn Apple, brother of Tim Apple.
Tell John to sack the software guy before you leave
ReplyDeleteJohn Turnip will be a great successor!
ReplyDeleteRead that in his voice
ReplyDeleteSteve Jobs who?
ReplyDeleteI wonder if Tim Apple's new role will be the go-to Trump fascist taint licker, or if the new CEO will want that diaper nose duty for himself.
ReplyDeleteFuck him
ReplyDeleteWill the new CEO also bend the knee to the American King? I imagine so, but wouldn’t it be wonderful if he didn’t?
ReplyDeleteShame about that whole Trump trophy thing…
ReplyDeleteLol Tim will become Executive Chairman which means he will lead the board of directors, who also decide the faith of the CEO.
ReplyDeleteExecutive Chairman is a special case even which gives him defacto veto power over whatever Ternus decides, he can even overrule him if he wants to.
Could be a point of Conflict even depending on their relationship. The same stuff happened under Bob Iger and Bob Chapek when one became CEO and the other switched from CEO to Executive Chairman.
TLDR.
ReplyDeleteThese self important ceos….
ReplyDeleteReally hate to see him go
ReplyDeleteGlossed over the chaos he helped bring upon the world economy
ReplyDeleteVery bittersweet. End of an era.
ReplyDeleteI worked for Apple for 11 years (just left this past March), and when Tim talks about the culture of the company, it’s the truth. To be surrounded by so many passionate people who care about not only the work they do, but other people, is truly a wonderful thing.
With absolute 100% certainty, I am a better person because of my time at Apple and the humanity within the valuable lessons and skills I learned there.
Fuck apple, their culture is the caste system.
DeleteMay I ask what position you worked in?
DeleteWhy did you leave?
DeleteGot really lucky and transitioned into self-employment.
Delete💩
DeleteDo you think he still has an office inside
ReplyDeleteA very heartfelt thank you to all Apple employees. What a kind and humble man.

ReplyDeleteI'm a traitor to the American people, I bent my knees and asshole to trump and prized him with donations and gold bars. -Tim Crook
ReplyDeleteI think the American people are traitors to themselves already.
DeleteAnd yet they still ended up having to raise prices. He did all that stuff to keep Trump from regulating them so they didn’t have to raise prices. And they ended up having to do it anyway because of AI bull crap.
DeleteTim Apple is a great man and a great CEO. Apple will miss him. Happy retirement Tim Apple you deserve it.
ReplyDeleteLa vache! C’est un tissu de blabla… il a fait écrire ça par une IA ou quoi? Rien de personnel, que des lieux communs, des platitudes de motivation à deux balles…
ReplyDeleteMoi on me sors ça, je m’endors… ou alors je me casse!
All I'll remember of him is how he and the other tech ceo's got on their knees and praised Trump as some genius. At least Satya didn't attend the inauguration although he did attend the dinner alongside Tim.
ReplyDeleteDoes he still have to get up at 4am?
ReplyDeleteDo people not get up at 0400 lol?
DeleteIf you have a full time job 10-hour workday), you need to train or gym then read, eat, shower, spend time with your loved ones, housework, commute to work.
It's amazing what 🍎Tim accomplished. Even without 🍎Jony. Now the new John Apple is at the helm and Siri will finally work after two decades!
ReplyDeleteSiri is never going to work
DeleteiOS 27 beta, Siri works great.
DeleteGood Evening 😔
ReplyDeleteToday is my last day and the only good iPhone I made was the iPhone X. The air pods were the only thing that mattered since I was ceo! Thank you and now I’m gone!
ReplyDeleteHaving the top engineer be the head is a fun prospect. I look forward to how he will use his experience to push Apple to new heights.
ReplyDeleteBut we also gotta remember, whatever his plans/desires are for the lineup, it will take several years for us to even see them in leaks. Apple starting to experiment under him means we likely won’t see anything meaningful until at least the early 2030s
>Having the top engineer be the head is a fun prospect. I look forward to how he will use his experience to push Apple to new heights.
DeleteI wonder what kinda repercussions does it have on MBA as a degree. more and more CEO's especially of trillion dollar giants are people with engineering background and no formal business degree
If anything I think it’s just signaling the whole AI era we find ourselves in. Tech-heavy companies having someone knowledgeable of the hardware specifications they create be at the top seems more like a sign that they are taking AI “seriously”
DeleteDude was slacking off, Siri has been a meme joke for a decade!
ReplyDeletefnord
ReplyDeleteA pretty crappy read for these employees at the Vision team that he laid off just last week.
ReplyDeleteGood. Product is a failure and should be scrapped entirely. Move resources over to products people actually want.
DeleteIf Apple cancelled every product that didn’t land with the first generation, we wouldn’t have an Apple Watch or AirPods either. The Vision Pro is a marvel hardwarewise and it’s a shame they didn’t follow that concept further.
DeleteIt’s a pretty crappy read in general. It’s not uplifting or sentimental; it’s factual and repetitive.
DeleteIt’s about as charismatic a statement as you’d expect from someone with as much charisma as Tim Cook
DeleteLeadership isn’t easy.
Delete15 years selling more or less the same thing. New things A watch that wasn’t ground breaking. Head phones that don’t exactly light up the world. An AirTag which wasn’t original. But he sold bucket loads of incrementally updated Phones and laptops. It’s been profitable but boring.
ReplyDeleteIt takes a real bananahead to undermine Apple’s transformation under Tim Cook.
DeleteUh idk what you’re smoking but the Apple Watch and AirPods have been one of the top selling devices in their respective fields of tech, even if they aren’t massively game changing or innovative
DeleteIt doesn’t matter about past success. In business it’s about what you are doing next. Why buy a new watch or AirPods? The technology is near perfected.
DeleteYou literally just said a watch that wasn’t ground breaking and headphones that don’t exactly light up the world, both statements being objectively wrong if you spent 5 minutes looking up the yearly sales numbers year by year since their release, Apple has been very successful waiting for the right time to introduce its tech version of existing products rather than trying to invent new things that haven’t been made already, don’t just move the goalpost now
DeleteWhat are you going to buy from Apple next year? That’s Apples problem going forward. iPhone 20 is not going to be much better than the current iPhone. Or the next watch or AirPods .
DeleteIt's funny until you realise that people like you have been saying this since iPhone 7. We're at iPhone 17 now, and the sales are still getting stronger year after year. So "How is Apple going to make people buy iPhone 18?"
DeleteThe same way they've been doing in for the past decade.
But the day is inevitable, maybe not today or tomorrow but soon. If batteries were easily replaceable (as they used to be) most people wouldn’t upgrade . How much better can the phone, AirPods or the watch get. To grow a company this size you need to be convincing people to buy new things all the time (Cook was good at that) but you run out of road eventually. I foresee a struggle ahead and a downsizing, maybe even selling off parts of the business.
DeleteThat's fine. It's a reasonable view, but you can apply that same perspective to nearly every consumer tech product company out there. You should start shorting Apple stock in this case.
Deletehe did his job.
DeleteA watch which is the best selling smart watch on the planet. Headphones which if they were split into it's own company, would still be a fortune 500 company because they are just that popular. And if you think apple silicone was an incremental update, I don't know what to tell you.
DeleteWhat new device did he bring to the market that didn’t already exist. He was a great manager but not an innovator. He’s left his successor with a problem. Why upgrade your phone or headphones?
DeleteMobile phones and portable music players, tablets, laptops and personal computers all existed before Apple launched their version. Apple has never been about bringing new products to market.
DeleteWhat problem exactly? He left his successor in a fantastic position.
DeleteIt’s hard to grow it from this point. What new compelling device are they going to sell that you already don’t own.
DeleteI believe he did his part. I think this is part of a larger over arching strategy that Steve couldn’t see through.
Delete- revive company
- overhaul the product line.
- light a fire / inspire / buzz about product
— product(s) are hi quality feeding back into the buzz.
- new products creating new market segments.
- transition to a CEO that can expand operations and do things at high volume.
- removing existing talent is questionable but may hinder expansion
- marginal improvements to continue to draw new customers and support existing.
- once large infrastructure is in place transition…
- next ceo to rinse and repeat the first block now with better footing and backing.
- established products that have matured may transition
— see reports of businesses wanting to buy into the the bargain mac of 2004 for AI initiatives and physical change of the iphone plus software with the new AI. Its been useful for me as it was able to piece together an answer from data that spanned 10 years in my phone that helped me find the reason a generic file existed to begin with.
- new products to introduce and strategies to take advantage of them. See macbook neo.
Theres more that could be added. I think the this larger over arching strategy explains things better. And the by product of stagnation is catching the competition or would be competition off guard. See iPhone and Apple silicon. Not excusing Tim but he did his part. If it wasn’t the exponential potential of AI speeding up timelines Tim would be right on time more or less.
He make me wealthy. Never forget that
ReplyDeleteDoes this mean tcook@apple.com won’t work
ReplyDeleteHe’ll be remembered for playing with Trumps little cheetoh.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the millions bub, we'll be here working to make ends meet

ReplyDeleteTim Apple baby!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful post. Feels nice to read such a post amidst so much of AI slop these days. What a time we live in!
ReplyDelete‘My success is because of all you underpaid and overworked apple employees, thanks! Byeeeeeee’
ReplyDeleteTell us how many jobs you created.
DeleteUnderpaid and overworked jobs only, like Tim? Cos I get people to do stuff for free!
DeleteGlad you’re sticking up for the billionaires. Whatever would they do without you?! Hope they’re paying you well.
Very nice note.
ReplyDeleteBut I think his legacy is going to be significantly soured by its last chapter as CEO.
Maybe by those with TDS. The rest of us normal people can see past the last two years and see what a profound positive impact Tim Cook has had on apple and the world
DeleteI haven’t seen The Daily Show in two years.
DeleteCute. Seek therapy
DeleteHey, I'm not the one replying to a whole bunch of people with The Daily Show.
DeleteDenial is the first stage to recovery.
DeleteAn an excellent joke on the Jungle cruise.
Delete100% not written by AI.
ReplyDelete“With all I have and all I am”. What a great line.
Apple's success is indeed the achievement of all Apple employees, but the damage done to Apple's image is all down to Tim kissing the orange dictator's ass whilst the press was asking questions about the Epstein files. Let's hope his successor will make us forget Tim Apple's tenure.

DeleteWho’s cutting onions?
ReplyDeleteNice note.
ReplyDeleteNot easy steering the company after Steve’s passing. He did well.
Good riddance to awful management.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Tim, for your leadership, and innovation. I’m a dedicated fan, and avid user of multiple Apple products. I look forward to what the future holds.
ReplyDeleteNow John, when are we getting an Apple Ring?
And they hire more store leaders who let their power go to their heads.
ReplyDelete“I look forward to seeing you in my new role at Apple Park and around the world.

Damn. 🥹

DeleteDear Employees,
ReplyDeleteI lied. I don’t care if you love it or not!
Love,
Tim
Thinking of Steve Jobs and how he sadly passed this on to Tim. It has to be such a bittersweet day for him.
ReplyDeletei think steve knew the company was in great hands. not hands comparable, nor the same, but good. and tim was an amazing steward for many years. i think steve should be proud of his legacy even still.
DeleteI wish Tim paid more homage to Steve in his memo.
DeleteGood night Tim 😢😢
ReplyDeleteIf I worked at Apple I’d hit reply all…”I ain’t got time to read all that can someone send a TL;DR?”
ReplyDeleteThat's why you work in your trash job and not Apple.

ReplyDeleteSo rich, and so important he can't be discarded! Amazing Tim Apple, the Golden Sellout!
ReplyDeleteI will forever remember his as the one who gave a bar of gold to Trump as a bribe. Fuck him.
ReplyDeleteFew people understand making a screen brighter, a bezel smaller, a longer lasting battery, a higher pixel camera, a ai too dumb to tell you how far El Paso is from San Antonio without having location on, when you’re in fucin Riga?

ReplyDeletebig empty words
“We think you’ll love him.”
ReplyDeleteFinally he is gone. Years of zero creativity and innovation.

Deletewho gives a shit. another wealthy person saying something
ReplyDeleteHe really needs to find a synonym for “excited”. All of his keynotes and every interview - “I’m very excited…”
ReplyDeletebah, loser bent over to fascism…all for a better paycheck.
ReplyDeletegood riddance.
Did he mention that he knelt in front of a pedophile and offered him gold?
ReplyDeleteTim Cook will be remembered for umm….uh. I can’t really say he did anything memorable.
ReplyDeleteDestroyed the company, never buying apple again.
ReplyDeleteTorched his reputation over the last 18 months, licking the boot.
ReplyDeleteLook upon your macs as the next CEO transitions us into a rental phone company first and a rental computer company next.
ReplyDeleteApple hasn’t changed the world in a decade. All Time Cook figured out is how to bleed us all dry with subscriptions. It may make for a profitable company, but it’s no longer visionary, just a subscription service.
ReplyDeleteNothing apple has released under tim has changed the world. It's just more of the same, or making apple versions of products that already exists like wearabes and Bluetooth pods.
ReplyDeleteSick of tech CEOs wanting to change the world.
ReplyDeleteChanging the world is the entire point of tech.
DeleteThese CEOs are trying to make the world reliant on their tech, not just make the world somehow better with it.
DeleteEvery ceo wants the world to be reliant on their product/service. Not limited to tech.
DeleteThey’re making the world a better place!
