Disney shares stunning live-action 'Mulan' teaser

Now isn't the time for live-action Disney fatigue, since the teaser for 2020's Mulan is here to stir up your excitement once more. Based on the Chinese legends that led to 1999's animated Mulan, the live-action adaptation stars Yifei Liu in the titular role.

The teaser tells a familiar story: Mulan's family takes her to a matchmaker, who expresses all the desirable qualities that a good wife must have. Mulan may or may not have those qualities, but we know what they don't: That she is, above all, a fierce warrior. The film also stars Rogue One's Donnie Yen, Jason Scott Lee, Yoson An, Gong Li, Jet Li, and more.

Mulan hits theaters in spring 2020.

  1. Its bitter sweet. I know they want to be closer to the true story which I am excited to learn more true historical facts of Mulan but at the same time I LOVED the animated movie, Mulan was my favorite Disney movie so it's sad it wont be like the animated movie. So I'm sad but excited at the same time lol

  6. I really think Mulan would be a great opportunity for a trans character since she’s male presenting in a military. Buuuut that’s not Disney’s style. This does however look extremely well casted and at the very least, not white washed! Progress

  7. Hmmmm...I am skeptical. The legend of Mulan is a great one. Leave it to so stupid American company to screw it up....like ALL of the fairytales.

  9. I understand if they are just retelling the story closer to her historical story, but if they try to pass this off as the cartoon I'm mad. It's nothing like it. And Mulan was my favorite. Such a shame. I'll prolly still see it though, cuz im a sucker.
