Spooky 'Ghostbusters: Afterlife' trailer brings a first look at the new generation

The first trailer for Ghostbusters: Afterlife has arrived, and it looks glorious.

Taking place after the events of the original movies from the '80s, Ghostbusters: Afterlife follows a group of kids, some of whom are connected to the original ghostbusting lineup, as they learn about what happened in New York City all those years ago from none other than Paul Rudd's character Mr, Grooberson and uncover a ghostly mystery of their own.

We don't see any returning characters, but the trailer caps off with a snippet of a familiar Venkman monologue from the original.

Ghostbusters: Afterlife comes to theaters July 10.

  1. This seems like revenge by the studio. “So you didn’t like the all lady Ghostbusters, now you’re getting little kids.”

    1. BH we can't get enough. It was as bad as the 90s movies where the kids were all from the 60s.

    2. That’s the problem though, they’ve already put this out for three seasons as Stranger Things and as a film with the first chapter of IT. They don’t need to stretch the veneer of the Ghostbusters IP over the 80’s kids on bikes encounter spooky things trope.

    3. Based on the popularity of shows like Stranger Things and movies like “IT”, I definitely think the right group of kids can carry a movie like this. Plus...Paul Rudd.

    4. I agree. It would have been great if it tied in the original story.

    5. but these kids are connected to the orginal Ghostbusters. The Ghostbusters movie that came out in 2016 should of had the cast be the daughters of the original Ghostbusters. Taking over for there father's.

    4. concept for this was literally "Teenage Ghostbusters". I have no issue with teenagers, but were this the actual name of the movie would you still be as interested in seeing it?

    5. got your point. Original crew was made of scientist. Now they're child. It may sounds a bit kiddy

    1. Given what this trailer seems to indicate is the direction of the film, it’s probably only in cameo form outside of Aykroid.
