Guillermo del Toro's 'Pinocchio' trailer: Watch | Mashable.
Guillermo del Toro's 'Pinocchio' trailer promises a twist on the puppet classic
"It's a story you may think you know," says the woodcarver Geppetto in the new teaser trailer for Guillermo del Toro's Pinocchio, "but you don't."
The new stop-motion animation film from the acclaimed director is slated to arrive on Netflix this December, months after Disney's live-action Pinocchio take drops on their streaming service Disney+. Hence why this trailer may want to proclaim its uniqueness — they're competing with Tom Hanks's Geppetto, after all.
Despite the dueling Pinocchios, this one is sure to deliver. Not only is del Toro involved, but so are A-listers Ewan McGregor and Tilda Swinton, among others. Plus, the trailer gives the audience a sneak-peek into the fantastical animation that's sure to fit with the classic tale.
There's no set release date yet, but Guillermo del Toro's Pinocchio will be on Netflix sometime in December.
I love these character designs!! Pinocchio actually looks like he's been carved out of wood, and the Blue Fairy looks both benevolent and terrifying, like an angel almost. The "borrowed soul" bit also hints at a deeper story. Can't wait to see this!
ReplyDeleteI think he's the reincarnation of Geppetto's biological son, Carlo.
DeleteGuillermo Del Toro could make anything and I would happily watch it. He is a master at any genre
ReplyDeleteHaving Geppetto create Pinoc due to his grief and unable to move on makes so much sense I'm surprised other adaptations haven't done it before.
ReplyDeleteThe stop-motion looks beautiful! Up there with Laika with the detail and movements.
Been excited for his film since it was announced and I can't wait for it to come out
Guillermo is a master of his craft!
ReplyDeleteThis looks insane. So much nostalgia is hitting me right now. Love the designs. And the stop motion. this looks like a masterpiece!
ReplyDeleteLooks so good, I love stop-motion animation! I'm glad Del Toro's challenging himself in new territory
ReplyDeleteI have faith in Del Toro’s work always!
ReplyDeleteNetflix be bring out all these trailers and never seem to miss
ReplyDeleteLove the animation style in this series! 😍 Can’t wait to see what this version of Pinocchio has to offer…
ReplyDeleteThis feels like it might be one of the most beautiful and emotional animated features of this year.
ReplyDeleteYou can tell there is a lot of heart and passion put into this movie. I don't think there could have been a more suitable director than Del Toro. This looks amazing!
ReplyDeleteLooks incredible!
ReplyDeleteLet’s freakin’ pinocchi-go!
ReplyDeleteI haven't felt anything from a children's movie trailer in a long time, and I'm glad this is more accessible to all kids (& adults) via streaming. The story of Pinocchio has always been about a parent, and a child trying to accomplish their dreams. Parenthood isn't easy, even if it's for a wooden puppet. Universal things these old stories used to say in very dark, realistic ways.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait.
This looks insane. So much nostalgia is hitting me right now. Love the designs and stop motion.
ReplyDeleteWhen I heard Del Toro was directing a Pinocchio movie, I thought, “That’s one of maybe three directors I trust to do it.” But stop-motion never crossed my mind.
ReplyDeleteThis looks very promising.
I never thought I’d want to watch a Pinocchio movie … like on purpose. This looks heartwarming!
ReplyDeleteWow this looks really good. There’s actually emotion in this trailer alone compared to the Disney teaser of theirs.
ReplyDeleteI can not wait to see it. Del Toro, one of the greatest filmmakers of modern cinema
ReplyDeleteYou can tell how much heart and passion has gone into making this. Looking forward to it.
ReplyDeleteI love all the version of Pinocchio movies, the scene where he dive into the ocean looking for his father still haunt me!
ReplyDeleteEsse filme vai ser perfeito
ReplyDeleteThe Matteo Garrone version in Italian from 2019 was my favorite so far and truest to the original novel. I doubt this one will surpass that, but I'll watch and find out.
ReplyDeleteit doesn't have to be surpassed and this doesn't have to surpass anything. it's better to enjoy multiple masterpieces
DeleteOh, we got ourselves a philosopher here.
DeleteGuillermo Del Toro's films and projects are always a masterpiece. Looking forward to this film.
ReplyDeleteThis looks beautifully amazing! I absolutely love both stop-motion animation and Guillermo Del Toro’s movies, so this will definitely be a must watch 🤩
ReplyDeleteTho not my number 1 most hyped film of 2022, i'm very excited to watched this. I mean the stop motion looks so good.
ReplyDeleteThe Talking Cricket: "As the matter of fact, I live, actually live in the heart of the wooden boy."
ReplyDeleteLater in the story...
The Talking Cricket: OH HELLO THERE.
Pinocchio: (proceeds to smash him with the hammer)
Guillermo Del Toro really is a master, loved his Tales of Arcadia series and from the looks of this trailer this looks awesome too. Obviously doesn’t come close to the 1940’s Pinocchio but still very good
ReplyDeleteThis trailer is so light hearted if I didn't know one of the main themes in the movie is Italian fascism, I'd thought this was a family friendly animation, haha. Props to Guillermo, looks like it's gonna be a masterpiece
ReplyDeleteI knew it was Ewan's voice the moment I heard it 😍 So excited for this to come out!!
ReplyDeleteHello there

ReplyDeleteOMG the animation looks so uncanny just like we expect from a Guillermo's movie, i'm excited to watch it!
ReplyDeleteI said once and I'll say it again, Guillermo never fails us.
ReplyDeleteLooking good 👍. I wouldn't normally be hyped for an animation film but the style here is magnificent and the trailer is perfect because we have almost no idea what the story will be.
ReplyDeleteImagine if pinnochio was not in public domain , this masterpiece wouldn't have existed
ReplyDeleteThis actually looks like what these Disney cash grab remakes don't have these days; heart and soul.
ReplyDeleteI love EVERYTHING I'm seeing in this trailer. I just CANNOT wait for this!!

ReplyDeleteI have been waiting for this for so long! It looks amazing... The style is everything, it's giving some Fantastic Mr Fox!
ReplyDeleteIt would be an Oscar worthy movie if they brought Pauly Shore to voice Pinocchio. 😂
ReplyDeleteYeah im definitely seeing this as del toro best the animation the feel of it. This teaser really encapsulates the main theme its grieving lost and identity but it also delves in the lovebetween father and son. Its going to be a beautiful ride indeed
ReplyDeleteThis is what we need more of, if you're going to retell a classic tale, do it with a passion for the craft of storytelling and filmmaking, not money-harvesting like the Disney live action stuff.
ReplyDeleteLotta people seem to be clamouring for Netflix to fail at the moment, but as long as they keep helping to get stuff like this made I'll support them.
Omg 🥰 I am soooooo ready for this!! Looove!! Can’t wait to watch this.. love when movies like this come out during winter ❄️ season 💗🌸🥳🍿
ReplyDeleteCan’t wait! Guillermo del Toro never fails to impress!
ReplyDeleteThis is what Netflix is giving us and it looks amazing. Guillermo Del Toro makes worlds people would want to see. And the fact that this is stop motion makes it ten times better. This will have more effort than Pinocchio A true story and the live action Pinocchio thats from disney
ReplyDeleteThis looks a thousand times better than Disney's live action.
ReplyDeleteGuillermo is one of the few good fantasy directors of the past two decades.
ReplyDeleteI always love cate blanchett telling the story
ReplyDeleteYou can already tell it’ll be a master piece ✨
ReplyDeleteum gênio 👏👏 👏👏
ReplyDeleteI'm Definitely Ready For Guillermo Del Toro's Pinocchio When It Comes Out
ReplyDeleteDisney to take notes of this work of art. Often it is in the simple is that magic is done, and this work has at all to work.
ReplyDeleteNow THIS is the Pinocchio we want, need, and probably will love to see. Not that Disney one
ReplyDeleteDefinitely watching this one!
ReplyDeleteAll of Guillermo's movies are stunning to look at. Can't wait for this.
