Also known as the Ash People, the Mangkwan live among ashy, volcanic ruins and appear to ally themselves with Avatar antagonist Miles Quaritch (Stephen Lang). Their leader, Varang (Oona Chaplin), also seems to be fireproof, able to light her hands on fire without any pain. Is she a firebender? Is this officially a crossover between Avatar and Avatar: The Last Airbender? Finally, the Avatars collide.
In all seriousness, check out the full trailer above for a better look at the Ash People and at Avatar: Fire and Ash's mind-blowing alien landscapes. From just these two minutes alone, it looks like the Avatar franchise is on track to take home yet another Academy Award for Best Visual Effects.
The first avatar movie has been my favorite movie for a longg time. Im literally crying from joy. I definitely like the whole fantasy part of the movies more than the action part, but it is really cool to see a different villain who is navi instead of Quarritch, who is somehow still alive…
1:41 Neytiri’s ikran bringing her back to camp as she’s unconscious and injured is so sweet— ikran are literally soul animals I think. They do everything to take care of their bonded Na’vi.
I mean, that's basically how Ntiri describes the Ikran in her broken english in the first movie, because she says they aren't like the horse type creatures they have as they only accept one rider, to whom they bind for life. And when they pair with an Ikran, the Ikran has to choose them - albeit by trying to kill them, but that challenge may be more of a worthiness kind of thing, like, they want their chosen Navi to be fearless and strong if they're going to spend their entire life bound to them. They're definitely an all or nothing type of creature.
As an aspiring director, hearing the music from the first one really gives me nostalgia in such a magical way. Honestly, all these Avatar movies in general are inspiring. From Soundtrack to Visuals to acting.
Water. Earth. Fire. Air. Long ago, the four nations lived together in harmony. Then, everything changed when the Fire Nation attacked. Only the Avatar, master of all four elements, could stop them, but when the world needed him most, he vanished. A hundred years passed and my brother and I discovered the new Avatar, an airbender named Aa... Jake Sully. And although his airben... Ikran riding skills are great, he has a lot to learn before he's ready to save anyone. But I believe Jake can save the world.
Also - directly to you James Cameron - we know you're going for Earth Nation last, so it will be like subterranean Na'vi who take care of Eywa roots or some s*it. And they will say that there's no war in Ey Wa Se.
I remember The Last Airbender creators said that thay had to add "The Last Airbender" because James Cameron already had the rights of the word Avatar, they also said that since the first movie was Earth and the second was Water, if the third one was about fire they were gonna riot... They must be crazy right now
They knew he'd registered the name. It was regularly reported in the press in the years after Titanic. Everyone in Hollywood would've known about it. He wrote the script in the early 90s.
Can't see it clearly, it looks human-made? Maybe Neytiri could get a giant compound bow or something from Jake's former coworkers that remained on Pandora. She broke hers at the end of the last film.
1:26 THAT SCENE IS EVERYTHING!!! Everyone else is approaching with caution while she approaches with a curiosity! You can tell Neytiri and her will have as much Chemistry as Quaritch and Jake. Varaang looks vicious!
Or maybe she's not just "generic villain derrrr" what makes you say that? She lives on a living planet that gives other people of her species the chance to tap into communication with a goddess and their people, in her home, that connection has been destroyed. What happens when you take this deeply religious people, with a real and tangible goddess, and take that away? Did the other clans come to her aid, did they not? Is that why she is accepting to partner with Quaritch and the humans? Is she only doing what needs to be done to survive? There might be a little more than what you're seeing with zero argument applied.
1:53 You know this is going to have an insanely epic end battle. The ending fight from Way of Water was one of the most incredible cinematic sequences I have ever seen, utilizing techniques from James Cameron’s entire filmography.
Extreme technical expertise, extremely empty characters. Avatar 2 was a STRETCH of a Best Picture nominee, Academy. It's healthier for you AND Avatar for it to NOT go 3 for 3.
My dad and I watched The way of water together in the cinema and we agreed to watch the next one too. A year later he passed away. He was mesmerized when we watched the way of water. I'm sure he would've liked the third movie too, God I miss him..
I watched the last avatar with my friend. That was the last time I saw him before he died a year later. I'm so sorry for your loss. We will watch it in honour of them ❤❤
I remember going there with my dad. It was the first 3D movie I’ve ever seen. Two times I was amazed by IMAX , it was on Avatar and Dune 2. Kinda feels weird to have the 3rd part so soon, compared to the gap between 1 and 2
I agree. I saw Avatar in Imax when it released and that was THE coolest theater experience I ever had. Like, I don't often find the extra money spent on 3D movies to be worth it, and some that I thought might be worth it weren't all that great to me in the end (like Tron - looked cool, but didn't exactly leave me feeling awed or feeling like I would love to see it that way again), but Avatar was DEFINITELY worth it. I saw the second in theaters as well, but in regular format (as my husband has motion sickness issues and I didn't want to make him miserable), and even without the 3d experience it was pretty epic. Really hoping I'll be able to get around to seeing the third in theaters too.
The Casino Guitars Team is Beyond Excited about this Movie! Hats off to all that have been a part of this theatrical universe that has been created for all of us, young and old, to enjoy.
Agreed. Dances with Smurfs part 3 is going to make a shit ton of money and be absolute dog shit when it comes to writing. Worst part of this is that there are 2 more that are going to get made. An earth themed one, and then the 4 elements one.
there's so much they can do with this plot after all, first movie was good and the concept interesting but everything became so lame in the sequel, they're also recycling the same damn villain for 3 movies like come on.. he wasn't even a good character in the first one. I have no idea how James Cameron went from masterpieces like Aliens, Terminator, Abyss to this crap.
Like clockwork, the contrarians come out any time someone says "this is the best [ ] ever". I get toxic positivity is a thing but contrarians are annoying to be around and bring down everyones mood
because people's taste these days is shit. Something like Avatar 2 should get a 3/10 or something and that's being generous. The first movie was derivative but at least it was somewhat fun and made some sense. The sequel was an abomination.
The moment when the trailer has close to 0 dialogue, yet the visuals alone can tell you EXACTLY what the story is going to be. Amazing as always, Cameron keeps showing us why he is the master of sequels & visual storytelling. Can't forget the music by the legend himself, James Horner. He may no longer be with us, but his legacy lives on forever in our hearts. RIP
Where did it ever said or showed that Fire= Bad? That's is just your subjective reading of the trailer. but clearly not what Cameron had in mind.
If I understand the trailer correctly, the Fire tribe simply don't follow Eywa, and thus are more willing to work with the humans (in contrast with the Neitiri's tribe, who is very anti- human). That doesn't necessarily makes the fire tribe bad, just less susceptible to the full pro-nature influence of Eywa, and thus more open to progress via intermingling with the human invaders.
EVERY story out there is based on pre-existng stories & tropes. Even the most recent original movies are based on something that already exists. So your point is..?
I love James Cameron for his phenomenal respect for good CGI but I love Johnathan Nolan for his extreme respect for practical effects as the main concept with cgi there to enhance the practical. I think of them as almost opposites but I love both of their work (Johnathan Nolan for his work on Fallout) (James Cameron mostly for his work on Avatar)
This 2nd season of Avatar was my first 3D IMAX experience and it was magical. I can't wait to watch Fire and Ash the same way again with my family this year!
When you see the title named fire and ash you know something is about to be burned to the ground. Like a civilization or something. Can't wait to see it. Hopefully it comes out soon and is good.
Looks terrible
ReplyDelete1:02 That music, having it through the Avatar movies is just class. Outstanding piece of music.
ReplyDeleteIm currently experiencing my first time at Disney World Florida as a native Brit, and the first time I watched this was last night.
The trailer just sent chills up my spine
That shot at 1:26 gives me Goosebumps.
ReplyDeleteOne of the most beautiful and jaw dropping franchises I've ever seen.
ReplyDeleteThe Actors turned Themselves into Avatars for years to Prepare for their Roles, thats true dedication
ReplyDeleteTruly Incredible developments
DeleteI create motivational videos want to become next kendrick and nicki Minaj iconic moment ❤
DeleteIts the only jobs Worthington can get at this point
DeleteThis joke is more overdone and blander than hospital food
DeleteSame as people pretending to be another’s culture 😂😂😂
DeleteSome people don't believe in transracial.
DeleteI understood the reference
DeleteBravo Vince!
DeleteWhy would he need another job when he's got this?! Lmfao
DeleteNah I think it is personal choice, he did many other films after the first avatar.
DeleteThe ultimate method acting
DeleteI can't believe they partnered with NASA to find an actual exoplanet and send the whole filming crew instead of using CGI, that's true dedication
DeletePaycheck is good too
Deletethe shot with Varang and the Ash people meeting the RDA is soooo epic
ReplyDeleteI abaolutely love that shot and the music that accompanies it
Delete"Then everything changed when the Fire Navi attacked."🔥
ReplyDeletei laughed too much and this awaited comment
DeleteOnly the Avatar master of all four elements could stop them. But when the world needed him most, he got captured again by the RDA.
DeleteDamn haha
Deletethose fire HDR effects will be looking really good
DeleteOmgosh😂

Delete2:26 whole minutes of smooth and great piece of cinema
ReplyDeletei finally found my peace at 2:26

DeleteThe first avatar movie has been my favorite movie for a longg time. Im literally crying from joy. I definitely like the whole fantasy part of the movies more than the action part, but it is really cool to see a different villain who is navi instead of Quarritch, who is somehow still alive…
ReplyDeleteQuaritch is still alive to bring the marine corps catch phrases. Someone's got to do it with all this warring going on. :)
Deleteohhh yeah veryy true
Delete1:41 Neytiri’s ikran bringing her back to camp as she’s unconscious and injured is so sweet— ikran are literally soul animals I think. They do everything to take care of their bonded Na’vi.
ReplyDeleteI just noticed the arrow in her back💀
DeleteShe survives it. Notice that clip where she wakes up in the hospital..."The children?!"
DeleteOh yeah, you’re right!
DeleteI mean, that's basically how Ntiri describes the Ikran in her broken english in the first movie, because she says they aren't like the horse type creatures they have as they only accept one rider, to whom they bind for life. DeleteYeah! It's stated in the game that "Ikran are fiercly protective of their riders." (even if the coding can't show it)
DeleteThe only movie series, I really anticipate Greatness and perfection from every angle.
ReplyDeleteTeaser got 12 Million views in 1 day 😮
ReplyDeleteIt seems Avatar 3 will break the numbers when it release in Cinemas
This is going to be one of the greatest visual masterpieces of our lifetime.
ReplyDeleteAs an aspiring director, hearing the music from the first one really gives me nostalgia in such a magical way. Honestly, all these Avatar movies in general are inspiring. From Soundtrack to Visuals to acting.
ReplyDeleteVarang's head piece looks so badass. Red and black is the best color combo, change my mind.
ReplyDeleteWumpa yellow and red better? I'm Spanish, our flag is those colors
DeleteShe's so pretty!
Delete*Varang
DeleteI swear these are bot comments
DeleteRed and Yellow isn't bad either!
DeleteCertainly not mine, I'm human
DeleteOrange and black actually look better to me.
DeleteShe looks like a baddie

ReplyDeleteBut Avatar is not Borderlands...
DeleteAvatar's moon is also named Pandora.
Deletewell what left of them, i mean in the two almost of the blue people went extint. the mighty tree, the ocean one, and now the fire
DeleteWhy don't you stay there, troll bot? 😂

ReplyDeleteEntirely their own fault for not picking a new, original name.
DeleteAvatar, the cartoon, was released in 2005. Avatar, James Cameron movie, was released in 2009. What are you talking about??
DeleteThey knew he'd registered the name. It was regularly reported in the press in the years after Titanic. Everyone in Hollywood would've known about it. He wrote the script in the early 90s.
DeleteSo glad we didn't have to wait more than 10 years for this to drop...
ReplyDeletethe first movie came out when i was 4.
Deletethe over ten years i waited patiently and was told year after year 'yeah no it's being delayed again' truly turned me jaded
with things like the 5090 they would render the cgi faster
DeleteJames Cameron is the man himself
DeleteSame
DeleteI was 1 when the first one came out.
DeleteSad troll bot 😂
Deletewow insane, i was 19
DeleteThey were filming this even before avatar 2 released.

DeleteI am obsessed with Varang
ReplyDeleteEven though having short screen time in trailer we can literally sense her evilness with her tone and walk
Hats off to Oona Chaplin
I would!
Deleteyoooo, chill chill
DeleteBro shes literally a generic villain
Delete1:26 THAT SCENE IS EVERYTHING!!! Everyone else is approaching with caution while she approaches with a curiosity! You can tell Neytiri and her will have as much Chemistry as Quaritch and Jake. Varaang looks vicious!
DeleteMe too . Oona chaplin has played it well . Specially her accent ❤
DeleteShe’s beautiful..
Deletesaid while not even knowing anything about her clan or her backstory. 😂
DeleteStop the bs hype
Deleteshe is just evil bro and u are glazing her 😭 most generic villain ever why u surprise

ReplyDeleteOnly people who witnessed in person at the moment, can understand what AVATAR 1 felt like when it first got released.
Filmmaking Peaked there. ABSOLUTE CINEMA. 👑❤️
I remember seeing it in theatres and i was only 5. I barely remember much from my childhood but i still remember being wowed by the world tree

DeleteThere are plenty greater. This is just a cartoon. You could start with Sicario. Or maybe Umbrellas of Cherbourg for visual beauty.
Deletemost people who like these movies have seen like 10 films in their entire life.
DeleteI called the first movie Dances with Wolves in 3D back when it first came out.
Deleteliterally everything from this universe is just a variation of something that exists on earth.

There is nothing interesting about this story at all. It’s a disney kids plot . Fire = bad people taking over land. Okay?
DeleteWith such a reductionist approach I can simplify every single movie ever produced 😂
DeleteWhere did it ever said or showed that Fire= Bad? That's is just your subjective reading of the trailer. but clearly not what Cameron had in mind.
