Rocker Ozzy Osbourne is dead at 76 as fans and celebrities mourn on social media
Heavy metal lost one of its loudest voices today. Ozzy Osbourne — iconic Black Sabbath frontman, solo artist, and unlikely reality TV star — has died at the age of 76. The BBC confirmed his passing following a long battle with Parkinson’s disease.
With a career spanning over five decades, Osbourne wasn’t just a rock star — he was a cultural force. From pioneering the sound of British heavy metal to redefining celebrity with the MTV reality show The Osbournes, his influence reached far beyond music. His family confirmed the news in a heartfelt statement released Tuesday, saying he passed away that morning "surrounded by love."
"It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning," the statement read. "He was with his family and surrounded by love. We ask everyone to respect our family privacy at this time."
News of his death rippled across social media, with fans, musicians, and celebrities paying tribute. On Instagram, artists like Metallica, Jack White, Rod Stewart, Elton John, Billie Joe Armstrong, Tom Morello, Duran Duran, Questlove, Billy Idol, and more shared messages honoring the rock legend.
Black Sabbath guitarist Tony Iommi posted a tribute on X, writing, "It's just such heartbreaking news that I can’t really find the words, there won’t ever be another like him. Geezer, Bill and myself have lost our brother."
Many more joined in on X, including, Aerosmith, Korn, Jon Bon Jovi, System of a Down, Pantera, and fans offering condolences and celebrating Osbourne’s lasting impact.

DeleteI'm willing to assist few people who need a little extra help or going through a lot this month, Just with the word "GOOD LIFE I’ve got something unique for first 🔟 to message me right now
ReplyDeleteIn 1970 I was 9 years old & introduced to Black Sabbath - my life changed on that day. Everyone told me you worshipped the devil & yet it was YOU that helped to save my soul. Thank you, Ozzy. May you rest in eternal peace.
ReplyDeleteRest well, Ozzy. You've earned it.
ReplyDeleteRock hero and legend…. To put it mildly. R.I.P. OZZY.
ReplyDeleteOzzy was one of the greatest. Black Sabbath has always been my favorite band since I first heard them in 1971. Have most of their albums and still listen to them. R.I.P. Ozzy.
ReplyDeleteIn 1982 in Des Moines he bit the head off a live bat, of course the bat bit back and he went to the hospital to get rabies shots.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on making it up to 76 with the life he lead, would probably would have it to 140 otherwise.
ReplyDeleteI just said to my boyfriend that Ozzy basically lived in dog years.
DeleteSome life too. Ozzy's 76 leaves an awesome legacy and good vibes. He was some talent musically, highly influential for rock music, and also really funny.
DeleteCant say its a shock but it still feels like one. Man was probably, like so many of us, one of the first, if not the first musician that made me sit forward and go "whoa!" I love Doom Metal because of Sabbath. I love Rock Music because of Sabbath. Thank you, Ozzman. 76 years somehow seemed forever and was still just not long enough.
ReplyDeleteSome grade-A playing from Geezer and Daisley with the Ozzman.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad he took the time to say goodbye.
ReplyDeleteRIP Ozzy, you were one of a kind, you will be missed, God Bless.
ReplyDeleteyou mean Devil Bless, of course😂
DeleteRIP legend.
ReplyDeleteWhat an influence he had on the world of music.
Rock On Ozzy!
ReplyDeleteI feel like he only held on to have his final concert. I'm so glad he got to have that, surrounded by so many musicians that he directly influenced and who loved him. He also got to see Sid propose to Kelly (even if he did say ''no you can't marry my daughter!' before it happened - hilarious until the end).
ReplyDeleteHe had a great life and I'm grateful I was here for it.
God Bless Ozzy Osbourne.
ReplyDeleteThe Ozzman goeth.

ReplyDeleteNothing made you comment, aside from your desire to be an asshole. *shrug*
DeleteJust needs a Snickers bar
DeleteWhat did the asshole say?
DeleteHe was just mad so many people were posting about it
DeleteOne of the most culturally significant musicians of the last century dies- and people are talking about it?? Shocking!
DeleteSir, this is a music sub..
DeleteGet fucked, man.
DeleteIt's the end of an era. He is one of the people who started metal as we know it 💔 His last concert was such a blessing. I hope he still felt the excitement from being on stage one last time as he passed.
ReplyDeleteI still sing Mama I'm Coming Home every time I hear it. One of the most powerful songs I've ever heard, it evokes an emotion almost indescribable. RIP.
ReplyDeleteThe dude had pipes! Megalomania off Sabotage is some fine work
ReplyDeleteNever Say Die

ReplyDeleteThe fact he outlived Dio is fn wild
DeleteThe fact Kieth Richards will outlive everyone is insane.
DeleteFuck cancer
DeleteSee...if you do enough drugs your body just rolls over like an odometer and you can rock like a god until 76!
ReplyDeleteRIP legend
My neighbors are listening to Ozzy right now. Whether they like it or not.
ReplyDeleteHaha. Took me a 2nd read to get it!

ReplyDeleteRIP Legend
ReplyDeleteSurrounded by love? Where was Sharon?
ReplyDeleteThey’re not saying where he passed. I can’t help but to think he may have e gone to Sweden for an assisted suicide. He will definitely be missed.
ReplyDeleteYou're being downvoted to oblivion but I agree. His daughter straight up said that last performance was his funeral. Respect. Go out on your own terms.
DeleteKinda out of left field there bud
DeleteNot really. Sharon wrote about their assisted suicide pact in her book. And two years ago, Ozzy, Sharon, Jack and Kelly talked about it on a podcast.
DeleteHe was in the UK - https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/live/cn0qq5nyxn0t?post=asset%3Ad11c12fd-255d-43ce-86a1-0ec2d4abf254#post
DeleteNo idea why you are being downvoted, seems to make sense from what I read elsewhere and the fact he was singing almost perfectly at his farewell concert..
DeleteMy thoughts as well. I mean he has discussed it on multiple occasions.
DeleteWhat an insane thing to just say
DeleteHe's phrased it terribly, but it's not the first I've heard of it today. Currently completely unverified but an open possibility, so perhaps not as insane as it seems, although this is a good example of why context is important
Deletehttps://www.bbc.co.uk/news/live/cn0qq5nyxn0t?post=asset%3Ad11c12fd-255d-43ce-86a1-0ec2d4abf254#post
DeleteAfter all the crazy shit he's done, this would be the weird thing?
DeleteMaybe, it's not too late.
ReplyDeleteTo learn how to love, and forget how to hate-
Rest In Peace, Ozzy. ☮️✌️🙏
May this song's lyrics resonate through eternity. In times like these, we need more love and less hate
DeleteDude was a legend
ReplyDeleteAnd always will be.
DeleteHe's finally off the rails of this crazy train.
ReplyDelete"Sharan!!!" The only words I've ever understood what he said ...rip
ReplyDeleteIsn't that crazy? The man was crystal clear when he sang but just regular speaking he needed subtitles. I could never figure that out.
DeleteMay the man of Metal R.I.P 🥺😥

ReplyDeleteGood innings, considering the lifestyle.
ReplyDeleteI remember watching him as a teenager (I’m 31 now) and wondering even back then how he was still around. He’ll always be a true legend

ReplyDeleteHis death is everywhere; rest in peace, Ozzy.

ReplyDeleteDon’t bite off the kid’s head. Remain calm.
ReplyDeleteYou can almost imagine Ozzy saying to himself "Not a bat, definitely not a bat".
DeleteLove him so so much ❤️
ReplyDelete"The scam is the bird was dead. We were planning to release it there, but it died beforehand. So rather than waste it, I bit its head off.
ReplyDelete"You should have seen their faces. They all went white. They were speechless."
