  11. It's concerning to see how Musk has treated these former executives, especially given the high profile of the case and the large amount of unpaid severance. It's a relief to see that the settlement has been reached and hopefully it brings closure to all parties involved.

    1. He paid too much for Twitter because they forced him to, took it private and then absolutely tanked it's value

One of the first things he did was change the name aka killing the brand recognition

Not to mention all the awful and weird changes he's made since

But on a whole I think it's for the greater good. The sooner politicians and news media stop acting like Twitter is real life the better

I saw Moana recently and a joke about "tweeting" is going to be a dead reference to Gen Alpha kids. Just obliterated the brand because of his autistic fixation with X.

    6. If you see the Twitter acquisition through the lens of profit and amount paid vs what it’s currently worth, maybe he overpaid. If he bought it as a tool to control narratives and win elections… well

      Delete

    9. If they want to, great. You can't just force people to use their money. You have a twisted mind set.

Especially since if he liquidated all of his positions, he wouldn't have nearly as much as that.

      Delete
    10. We do... it's called taxes, you moron!

      Delete
    11. Then why do we have a debt? If the answer is taxes. The problem is spending. You can't make 100k and consistently spend 140k.

      Delete
    12. Yes you can if 100k is not enough to run the "household" properly, and if the lenders have confidence that you'll keep paying the interest.

Look, you're not a bad person, you just don't understand the concept of national debt. You're thinking of it like personal debt. You just think it's an issue because "they" have told you that it's an issue. Have you never wondered why every country has some amount of national debt? I mean, if having debt was really so bad, surely someone would have figured out how to pay it back by now, right?

      Delete
    13. When you take loans out to pay off your debt that's a problem. Interest payments are about the be the top line item. America's credit score dropped. Countries are dumping our bonds AND there's not enough companies or countries to continue buying our bonds. That will sky rocket interest rates which will slow the economy more. Then to counter act you print more money and inflate your dollar.

      I understand debt very well.

And to continue my example, if you need 140k to run your 100k household "properly", you are wrong. Live within your means. That's a problem with Americans which is why the average savings is only $9000!!! That includes retirement!

      Delete

    14. You're still thinking of national debt in the same way as personal debt. No country has ever attempted to pay off their national debt; they just keep it at a "healthy" level which is based on various factors. And there's a reason for that!

Okay, tell me this, what do you think will happen by paying off the national debt? I mean, just look at the countries with the lowest debt to GDP ratios. Tell me, why do you think going in that direction will do any good?

      Delete
    15. We would stop accruing debt. We're pissing a trillion dollars into the wind each year just in interest.

    18. Do you understand national debt? They're in debt willingly. Most of the debt is domestically owned, and mostly from issued treasury bonds. Debt is not bad. This is a mutually beneficial arrangement that the US and (usually) its citizens enter willingly and intentionally.

      Delete
    19. The US is taking loans out to pay off other loans. How stupid can you be?

      Delete
    20. Yes, exactly! And that's a good thing, as far as I'm concerned. Citizens are happy to lend their money and get it back with interest and the government is happy not to spend theirs. I think that's better than debt = bad!!!!11

    29. Doubt. The US government has too many agencies with too many regulations. More need to be cut. There's a reason why the world has better infra than us. They do it. We have to do 20 year environmental studies and then argue for another 30

      Delete
    30. Oh so it's okay because it's someone you like. Noted.

You doubt that it happened, but even if it did, you still totally support it. Why do you have so much blind loyalty to a billionaire? The world has better infrastructure than us because they INVEST IN INFASTRUCTURE instead of billionaire tax breaks.

      This really isn't rocket science.

      Delete
    31. The rest of the world has billionaires too.

And I trust the market more than any government. What has the government actually done right? What program can you point to of their thousands that is run with a balanced budget? The government should provide oversight not actually run it. Governments and their employees are largely ret****d which is why everyone is run so terribly. It's like social welfare jobs for the stupid.

      Delete
    32. If you're this jaded then there's nothing to be gained from this conversation. You're so brainwashed that it hurts. You fell for the welfare queen bullshit, and now you're going on about how billionaires are better than the gov?

How many schools are named after Elon? How many parks? Hospitals? Anything? He doesn't give a flying fuck about you, but I guarantee you're going to take the government roads to work, and enjoy governmental programs like social security, medicaid, etc.

You're like a housecat. Completely oblivious to how people help you, but still snarky enough to lash out. I'll let you be someone else's problem for now since I need to get back to work. I seriously hope you somehow gain some empathy for the common man. Believe it or not, they're humans just like you.

      Delete
    40. It's more actually. $4.9T in tax revenue (I used 6t before) $25B in usaid spending.

      25b/4.9t = ~0.5% or 1/196

      (1/196) * 80,000 in roughly what I paid in federal taxes = $408.

    52. If you want lower taxes ask Elon to stop taking so much of it.

SpaceX, for example, pays little to no taxes (because of reported losses…so not THAT successful) yet 84% of SpaceX revenue is from federal contracts…aka your tax money.

But I’m sure you’ll come up with a reason for why that’s ok because you’re infatuated with him and he can do no wrong, correct?

You don’t want to help other people but you’ll gladly help and defend the richest man in the world…pathetic.

      Delete

    53. SpaceX is profitable as of 2024. Don't hate him for not paying taxes, hate the tax code. You write off losses and they roll over. I do the same thing.

What's wrong with Fed contracts? I'd rather the public sector do the work vs the government since they are incompetent. Who had to save the NASA astronauts again?

It's not about not helping people. Go help people all you want with your money. Stop trying to use everyone else's money for your desires. That's what everyone hates.

    58. The guy who did a nazi salute on national TV is a treasure, sure.

You realize you just voted to raise your own taxes so he could get a tax break, right? Unless you make over 400,000 in a year, you shot yourself in the foot with a shotgun so that the richest man in the world can get richer. That's actually hilarious.

You're going to sit here and talk about government spending while giving handouts to the richest people that walk the face of this earth. We're losing healthcare. Americans are being kicked off of foodstamps. We shut down research for child cancer. All of this so we could afford those tax cuts. It's laughable how stupid of a proposal is, so it's sad to see so many people actually support it. Musk wouldn't piss on you if you were on fire.

      Delete
    59. You would also benefit making less than 110k with overtime and tips.

People on food stamps long term is not my problems. You see all the videos of food stamp black people eating better than most middle class because they spend over 1k a month? Yeah, kick them off. Make your way in society or die. You're not my responsibility.

      Delete
    60. This is hilarious. Look closer at the overtime pay. It's not what you think it is, you barely get anything back. Additionally, most tips are cash, and they go unreported anyway. This bill is not helping poor people, it's getting rid of their healthcare.

And why the fuck are you bringing black people into this? You're not even trying to hide the racism at this point. You'd rather pay for a BILLIONAIRE'S THIRD YACHT than feeding hungry Americans. If I have a choice between giving a starving child a sandwich or a billionaire $100 dollars, im going to give the child a sandwich 100% of the time because I'm actually a decent human being.

The House requires a majority vote. There is no world, where Congress shows up to work, that four people carry a majority.

      Delete
