What wonderful news 🗞️ I wish I had heard before today. I checked mine after reading your comment. The hit was like a brick, I had already emptied both spam and trash. Facebook awarded me $4.98 due to their little breach of our privacy. I can't help but wonder what Google would have to pay? I dare to say the same minimal amount if any.
Mine's also in Gmail spam. We ought to sue Google for that! https://www.reddit.com/search/?q=Gmail+spam+filter&cId=082bef14-d6c6-4c19-983c-9c09c7bed180&iId=fea7d498-0c28-4cde-a699-8486c50e63df

Got the email today in my spam folder. Look for "Class Action Notice of Settlement – Taylor v. Google" in spam. https://www.reddit.com/search/?q=Taylor+v+Google+settlement+details&cId=1ed1c745-9f94-41f4-a911-0e68388c0baa&iId=ebd31964-5b70-40e2-88c9-7b4d44bf6395
Literally the only thing in spam. None of the obvious spam emails I get weekly were in there, but that one is. Absolute bullshit. They deserve to payout double for that.
There's NO way this isn't intentional! They did the same thing with the Google Play antitrust state attorneys general lawsuit. Interestingly, class action notices for non-Google companies never seem to have any issue hitting my Gmail inbox without landing in spam.
I mean they pay the same amount either way no matter how many people sign up. If not a lot of people sign up they just get bigger chunks of money. So I doubt it's intentional
Check your spam folder, seems Gmail is marking them as spam. The subject is "Class Action Notice of Settlement – Taylor v. Google LLC, Case No. 5:20-CV-07956-VKD (N.D. Cal.)" and most people report they got sent out in early April.

Utterly terrible website. Their idea of a chatbot is ridiculous. It's just questions and answers. You have to pick a question and then hopefully maybe you might be able to get an answer - but likely not.
The notion that these clowns are taking on Google is laughable.
I am certainly, at this point, no fan of Google - but the basic competency of this law firm seems highly in doubt, at least judging from their attempt to address this phase of the litigation.
Literally price of your data and cost of doing buisness. Go foss, ditch google.
ReplyDeleteYay 133 million users will get 1 dollar each for some kind of massive violation of their privacy or rights.

Delete$.50, you're forgetting the lawyers.
DeleteFinally, justice for the working man
DeleteFucked that website, an audio track playing with zero indicators on how to turn it off
ReplyDeleteAll these websites lately are just ads. 2 lines of words and scrolling through another ad.
DeleteWhat if I am a dead collective not on earth? Where do I go for compensation?
ReplyDeleteWhat's the point of this useless article if it doesn't list the official website to see if you qualify?
ReplyDeleteClick bait.
DeleteI live here in Brazil, I read about Android and money and I already registered, and then you have to live in the USA. 🤡🤡
ReplyDeleteYes. I'm Mr. Android, and I'll be taking all that. Thank you very much.
ReplyDeleteI am Mr. Android's assistant. Please send $1 to claim your prize.
Deleteyes I got the email which Google moved to my spam folder.
ReplyDeleteWow I just checked after reading ur comment and there it is just chilling in the spam folder. Sent on April 1st funnily enough

DeleteWhat's the subject? I feel like I should have received it too since I've only used Android phones
DeleteClass Action Notice of Settlement – Taylor v. Google LLC, Case No. 5:20-CV-07956-VKD (N.D. Cal.)
DeleteDamn, can't find any email. I've been using android since the G1. Wonder what's the criteria.
DeleteYes, got the email last week. To my Gmail. Which Google filed away as Spam. Seems like that was very common.
ReplyDeleteOoooh!!! $100 for all of my data
ReplyDeletethanks...
You'll be lucky if it's $0.25
DeleteAt least the lawyers will get paid!!!
DeleteI got an email that went to spam. These things usually do, but it's ironic in this case lmao
ReplyDeleteThere's NO way this isn't intentional! They did the same thing with the Google Play antitrust state attorneys general lawsuit. Interestingly, class action notices for non-Google companies never seem to have any issue hitting my Gmail inbox without landing in spam.
DeleteI've never had a lawsuit case hit my email. I always find it in spam, even the FB one
DeleteIt probably wouldn't matter how many sign up the or it as far as Google is concerned. They pay what they pay. From there it won't matter where it goes
DeleteI mean they pay the same amount either way no matter how many people sign up. If not a lot of people sign up they just get bigger chunks of money. So I doubt it's intentional
DeleteCheck your spam on Gmail. That is where I got my notice.
ReplyDeleteI haven't received anything at all and have been an android user since ~2013.
ReplyDeleteThe actual payout of these things isn't really worth it unless you are the lawyers.
It's estimated to be anywhere from $20-100
DeleteThen collect your settlement and give it away
DeleteI'll donate directly and skip the hassle.
DeleteSame.

DeleteIf you owned anything in the last 20 years you maybe eligible for a part of a lawsuit somewhere!
ReplyDeletethat's a slap in the wrist for them tbf
ReplyDeleteJust found mine in spam too...
ReplyDeleteThanks for the heads up. Was in my Spam folder.
ReplyDeleteFor forward to claiming my 0.35 cents
ReplyDeleteI got the settlement email for every email I ever used android with. Would I ideally get paid 4X?
ReplyDeleteThe website has an FAQ that answers that: no.
DeleteOnly one way to find out
DeleteI did not
ReplyDeleteNeither did I.
DeleteI didn't get one either and I've been an android user since the Samsung 5.
DeleteSource please?
ReplyDeletemoneypilot.com
DeleteHad an opportunity with Google as well but, personally fear retaliation.
ReplyDeleteWhy is it always and only the US?
ReplyDeleteNever received an email like that. I have been an Android user since like 2012
ReplyDeleteCalifornia residents are excluded. Nice
ReplyDeleteEdit: Californians have their own lawsuit (Csupo v. Google) with a larger pot of money. Info can be found here CellularDataClassAction.com
I'm seeing that the estimated payouts for the national lawsuit are around $3 and around $10-30 for the California lawsuit
Can't wait to get my $9 check.
ReplyDeletewhat if your adress has changed since? how do they send the letter then
ReplyDeleteMost people seem to be getting emails. But you could probably just find a public listing for this and then reach out
Deletedo you know who the email is from
DeleteSweet you mean I will get . 34 cents on a debit card. I'm stoked. 😂😂😂😂
ReplyDeleteWhat country does this apply?
ReplyDeleteThe only country the Aliens found when they sent an envoy to earth, the default country.
Deletehttps://www.cellulardataclassaction.com/interest-registration The administrator phone leads to some scam about grocery vouchers and I get an error when I try to fill out the interest form.
ReplyDeleteThat case (and settlement) is specific to California residents - Attila Csupo et al. v. Google LLC.
DeleteThe broader United States case is Joseph Taylor, et al., v. Google LLC, and the website is

135 million is a drop in the bucket for Google, are people genuinely surprised that they've been using our data for year now?
ReplyDelete
DeleteDid anyone say they were surprised?
Why do people always do this. "Post documenting bad behavior."
"Why are people so surprised duh...."
Literally no one said they were surprised. But you can feel real smart if you want.
