Bernie Sanders sitting alone at the inauguration is painfully relatable

Inauguration Day 2021, a day many have been looking forward to for four years, is finally here. As we're still in the midst of a pandemic, attendees are adhering to mask and social distancing protocols — including Sen. Bernie Sanders in what's quickly becoming an inaugural meme.

While fellow senators and former presidential hopefuls are also in attendance, social distancing has Sanders — square in the demographic most vulnerable to coronavirus — sitting far away from everyone else. In this iconic photo, we're all Sanders: left all by our lonesome due to the pandemic. Naturally, people on Twitter were quick to relate to the photo.

Perhaps Sanders is concentrating more on his to-do list than the festivities. Or, he's just sitting alone at the party. Either way, we all know how it feels.
