It's a step. In terms of liability, where does the responsibility lie? Is it entirely with Tesla. It is Tesla architecture from nose to tail, however Tesla has very good lawyers that keeps Tesla out of 'the drivers seat'.
Market already has $25k EVs, like Surf, Inster, Renault 5. $25k car would not have been a competent market grabber. Driverless car is a unique offering, if launched there is no comparable product in market. Waymo is not for sale, cybercab will be. Ti...
He's a sixteen year old edge lord. The model numbers of his cars are S3XY. And it's the 3 instead of the E as Ford Motor had the trademark on E.
He's such a pathetic edge lord I can imagine him creating fake accounts praising him for being a tough, viral man who gets all the sexing from all the girls. Oops, already happened
He can’t launch it, because the tech is crap. All he can do is this 10 car 100 tech system that props up the stock price.
Tesla has a 10s of thousands of cars sitting in parking lots. They could have 10,000 taxis tomorrow if they wanted to. They don’t have more than 10 cars running, which should be telling.
So why does the saftey driver have his hand on the door? Is it to open the door to stop the car, or do they have the window controller on that door set as a brake?
I like the way you have to walk half a mile to the pickup point and then walk another half a mile to your destination at dropoff. It's just like Tesla have defined all the dropoff points in the micro geofenced low risk full sunshine area beforehand. Could be wrong.
Next headline will be about how all cars need to be robotaxis because human driven cars are the reason. Fuckwit musk cant get robotaxi to work.
Also, if it was as easy as he stated, shareholders should demand rather than sell them to people, run them as telsa taxi and make fat profit. But no, its another product to bump up share prices, fleece the customer base, grift government subsidies.
If you watch the full video, the last 4 minutes are funny. The Tesla fails to make it to the destination. It turns at the street before the drive way it wants, JUST LIKE THIS PORTION OF THE DRIVE and makes a giant rectangle drive around the block before figuring out not to turn at the wrong place.
Fuck Elon and I hope Telsa burns, but let's be honest here. The car went into the oncoming lane to bypass the line and get to a turn lane while there were no cars in the oncoming lane. I do that basically daily on my commute.
Do i buy that this is safe and ready to be deployed from the snake oil salesman? Not at all, but let's not sensationalize what happened, this was a very human maneuver.
I imagine someone forecasted what the ideal cost would be and ran multiple simulations to work out a break even and or economically viable operational fee taking into account the cost of the car, degradation of tires, brakes, charging costs and more.
Only to be overruled by a man child who thought it would be funny if the fare loosely referenced drug use. This man also strenuously denies being influenced by drugs during any of his official roles.
I mean you say that but their quarterly results say otherwise. It's a long way till energy storage, fsd or robotics makes up any meaningful part of their balance sheet revenue.
When I tried to use Waymo in phoenix it was priced very similar to an Uber. If they can actually run it at $4 that's really impressive. Not a musk fan, but this is a cool thing for everyone.
Yeah I know. But what‘s the TSLA-hype story behind it? E.g. Cathie Wood, does anyone know how they model profits from FSD? How many 4.20 rides do they need to even make 1b$ profits? Anyway, I should stop trying to make sense of it.
Pretty sure it's a fixed rate of $4.20 while they get it up and running, and only priced it at that "for the meme". Elon loves that number after all. Honestly, most of the hype seems to be around Elon's false promises.
Haha yeah of course it‘s a meme number. But even at market prices for ride hailing business, I can‘t see how this will be a moonshot business case. Competition is massive and I don‘t really see an edge for TSLA except the fact that they have meme status
They use safety drivers in the passenger seat with controls on the door to influence FSD. Likely to slow down speed up change lanes etc.
People noticed it pulled over for an ambulance which FSD (unsupervised) is notoriously bad at. So it’s likely the safety drivers intervened.
This is 100% against what the Tesla community has been touting a tesla robotaxi service would be. It’s a tiny geofenced area with 10 remote operators and a safety drivers per vehicle versus Elon’s “we will just flip a switch and every Tesla on the planet will be capable of generating money as a self driving taxi”.
Tesla community claimed that because they use an end to end neural network trained to drive in any condition that it was a “universal solution”.
This robotaxi launch proves that false and is extremely concerning for the company.
This is incredible, I can’t believe they finally did it!! Congratulations to everyone at Tesla who have been working so hard on these for the past many years.
Seeing lots of people compare waymo to tsla how waymo already did this and tsla will never be profitable and so on. You guys realise waymo only has 1500 cars right? Tesla will have 100k by this year end.
It's normal competition, which is a good thing. Like Target competing with Walmart, Burger King competing with McDonald's, Domino's competing with Little Caesar's.
Someone is always first, but they're not always best. Regardless, competition improves the product and keeps prices under control.
It's a step. In terms of liability, where does the responsibility lie? Is it entirely with Tesla. It is Tesla architecture from nose to tail, however Tesla has very good lawyers that keeps Tesla out of 'the drivers seat'.
ReplyDeleteIs it as reliable as his rockets ?
ReplyDeleteHow to hail a RoboTaxi, presumably -
ReplyDeletehttps://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/e/ea/Elon_Musk_gesture.gif
Elon's humor only consists of pot and sex number related jokes. The rest of us just laugh at his sales figures.
ReplyDelete"Tesla" isn't joke enough on its own?
ReplyDeleteFrom top expensive car, to become low cost taxi car 😁😁
ReplyDeleteWho will be the first to die in one of these mobile coffins??
ReplyDeleteFar safer than most human drivers.
DeleteWell that would save a lot from having to tip a surly cab driver, lol.
ReplyDelete$4.20 flat fee. So everything is still a joke to Elon.
ReplyDeleteMarket already has $25k EVs, like Surf, Inster, Renault 5. $25k car would not have been a competent market grabber. Driverless car is a unique offering, if launched there is no comparable product in market. Waymo is not for sale, cybercab will be. Ti...
ReplyDeletethey must have prioritized a $25K car which could sell twice the number of model3. robotaxi cannot even sell half of model3. it is just a gimmick.
ReplyDeleteElon needs to stop with the 420 jokes. I don't get what he achieves by doing them with the general public.
ReplyDelete"Hey look guys! I don't do drugs and I'm definitely not a Nazi!"
DeleteAlso "Let's slap 420 on everything."
For those who don’t know, April 20th is Hitlers birthday.
DeleteIs it still "doing drugs" if it's legal? That term generally doesn't apply to legal things like alcohol, cigarettes, Tylenol, etc.
DeleteWhy do you ask?
DeleteI'm surprised he didn't charge 14.88
DeleteIs there a significance to that number?
DeleteYes, it’s a common neo-nazi dog whistle.
Delete“Hey Beavis, let’s charge $4.20 for the ride. Get it? 420. Hehehehehehehe”.
Delete~ Leon Musk probably
He's a sixteen year old edge lord. The model numbers of his cars are S3XY. And it's the 3 instead of the E as Ford Motor had the trademark on E.

And take a guess what the ASCII code for "X" is... just take a guess.
DeleteASCII code for the letter "X" (uppercase) is 88.
X is also the ancient Greek symbol for the number 600. As in the "number of his name" is six hundred and....
DeleteNonsense. 16 year olds are much more mature and rational.
Deletehe doesn’t even smoke weed, just fries his brain with ketamine
DeleteTesla should at least specify whether it’s a weed reference or Hitlers birthday.
DeleteIt’s both. Few understand. Jenious.
Delete$14.88 would have been too obvious
DeleteIt’s bc he’s a man child
DeleteIt’s the lowest form of comedy. He’s showing up late to the party and attempting to convince them he is cool.
DeleteSoon, he will have the people in the car say “whassssssss uppppppp!” To passengers.
But it's funny as heck and only the fellow kids understand
DeleteIt’s bc he’s a man child
DeleteKilling anything that was once fun is his past time
DeletePeople used to consider him fun. So fingers crossed…

DeleteI hear Tesla is going private. Funding is secured for $420 per share. Hyuck hyuck hyuck.
DeleteHaHaHa, ELMO. After all of these years & promises, he still cannot get it right.
ReplyDeleteFUCKELMO
FUCKTESLA
TESLATAKEDOWN
Musk is desperate to get this launched before the quarter ends. He needs it for the shareholder call and stock price, because sales won't be great.
ReplyDeleteHe'll just claim it launched

These are modified model ys. What happened to the ugly 2 seater with the painted wheels they called the robotaxi?
ReplyDeleteCouldn’t fit the safety rider.
DeleteToday's Headline then: Video Shows Tesla Taxis Gloriously Commanding the Road.
ReplyDeleteSould add 8% to the stock.
7% as of right now lol. Just bought more puts
DeleteSo launching and do rides on Sunday afternoon during Summer month in Austin is one thing, what about doing rides on a Monday afternoon?
ReplyDeleteI wonder if they are accepting rides during rush hours.
DeleteSo why does the saftey driver have his hand on the door? Is it to open the door to stop the car, or do they have the window controller on that door set as a brake?
ReplyDeleteSo he can jump out easily when something goes wrong

ReplyDeleteSo they're running an overpriced micro bus?
DeleteAustin is now a ghetto for testing tech
ReplyDeleteI give it a week or so before they “temporarily” stop rides after a few of these incidents
ReplyDelete"I don't do drugs" Elon Musk likes to reference drugs a lot.
ReplyDeleteI thought they mapped the streets. I guess not?
ReplyDeleteWhat’s the safety monitor supposed to do from the passenger seat? How does he hit the brakes from There?
ReplyDeleteLooks like he has his finger on some device with a button, maybe a kill switch to emergency stop the car
DeleteI also enjoyed how the safety driver had his hand gripping the inside door handle the entire ride lol. Anxious much?
These things are scary af. Hope no one gets hurt...
ReplyDeleteNext headline will be about how all cars need to be robotaxis because human driven cars are the reason. Fuckwit musk cant get robotaxi to work.

Stock up 50% !
ReplyDeleteUp 7 percent. Tesla stock is on its way to the moon!
ReplyDeleteTesla up 10% $355, added 100B to their market cap.
ReplyDeleteOne of these is going to either cause a deadly crash or be involved in a deadly crash.
ReplyDeleteAnd any self-driving dreams Tesla ever had will also die that day.
How is this legal? Oh right, the US is lawless. Forgot.
ReplyDeleteIf you watch the full video, the last 4 minutes are funny. The Tesla fails to make it to the destination. It turns at the street before the drive way it wants, JUST LIKE THIS PORTION OF THE DRIVE and makes a giant rectangle drive around the block before figuring out not to turn at the wrong place.
ReplyDeleteInvite only. You can be assured for every video of poor driving, there will be 50 that not shown. Only Tesla fans are invited to use the service.
ReplyDeleteDo you sign a release as part of that invite?
ReplyDeleteCar was programmed by grok heh
ReplyDeleteTeslaQ community in shambles. Stock price action says the launch was wildly successful and TeslaQ is crying behind the phone screen

but we do not want shitty humans maneuvers.
DeleteAnd it did not go over a little bit. It went over the into opposite turning lane! For a long stretch. That is crazy.
$4.20 and 69 cents
ReplyDelete😂😂💯
DeleteThis story at least got the $4.20 joke. Kudos to them.
ReplyDeleteAnd no tips.
ReplyDeleteI imagine someone forecasted what the ideal cost would be and ran multiple simulations to work out a break even and or economically viable operational fee taking into account the cost of the car, degradation of tires, brakes, charging costs and more.
ReplyDeleteOnly to be overruled by a man child who thought it would be funny if the fare loosely referenced drug use. This man also strenuously denies being influenced by drugs during any of his official roles.
At this rate Tesla FSD owners will never break even with their FSD investment!
DeleteHe doesn't do it for drugs. It's his favorite person's birthday!
Deletelisten to jack nichelson, "goose fraba"
DeleteThat calculated figure was probably way below 4.20. Perhaps in the dollar to dollar and half region
DeleteYou must be a blast at parties.
DeleteThe vast majority of Tesla's money isn't from selling cars or anything with cars anyway. whatever the price it doesn't matter.
DeleteI mean you say that but their quarterly results say otherwise. It's a long way till energy storage, fsd or robotics makes up any meaningful part of their balance sheet revenue.
DeleteWhat I mean was 100% of their money comes from its stock, which is detached from reality so nothing actually matters.
DeleteThat's also incorrect, they've not done a capital raise since 2020, over half a decade ago.
DeleteAlso they probably have a calculated figure way below 4.20. Somewhere in the dollar to dollar fifty range.
Deletehttps://www.reddit.com/r/SelfDrivingCars/comments/1li2cil/tesla_robotaxi_day_1_significant_screwup_not_oc/
ReplyDelete4:20 sounds about right...
Waymo has been doing that for years…
ReplyDeleteSo launching a new product is a bad idea if someone has done it already?
DeleteWhen I tried to use Waymo in phoenix it was priced very similar to an Uber. If they can actually run it at $4 that's really impressive. Not a musk fan, but this is a cool thing for everyone.
DeleteTesla is nothing but a giant hype machine. They’ll gladly run it at a loss and tell you they’re making bank.
Delete
DeleteI tend to agree with you. However I’m also hoping we see a world with more self-driving.
Hopefully at least this gets Waymo into more markets.
All in all very curious to see how this goes and how the Tesla’s perform.
The 4.20 thing was Musk's moronic attempt at humor and nothing else and you can be assured that will be gone within days .
DeleteThis is great! What I‘m more interested in: how will this bring 50b$ more profits to justify the TSLA valuation?
ReplyDeleteThat's the thing, it never will
DeleteYeah I know. But what‘s the TSLA-hype story behind it? E.g. Cathie Wood, does anyone know how they model profits from FSD? How many 4.20 rides do they need to even make 1b$ profits? Anyway, I should stop trying to make sense of it.

DeleteYou should short the stock. I mean if you really believe what you're saying it's an amazing opportunity.
DeleteWhy would I do that? It defies reality. No matter how many failures Tesla has, it'll just keep being a highly valued stock
DeleteIt costs them less than a dollar to run, they charge users 4.20 powered by the meme. Thats a good margin of 3 fiddy
DeleteCringe lord. "Only stoners will get this done" Jensen moment.
ReplyDeleteDude, 420? So sick.
ReplyDeleteMentally musk is still 12.
DeleteDon't forget the 69, apparently you have no sense of humor
