Watch Global New Year's Eve fireworks, 2026 countdown live
If you're not into crowds, streaming the New Year’s Eve fireworks from home has become a bit of an annual hack. HUNTR/X gets it — ringing in midnight from your couch is highly underrated, toasting what was and could be ahead with an actual glass, not an overpriced plastic cup whose crappy contents are inevitably destined for the front of your shirt in the chaos.
Thankfully, digital streams of the iconic and deeply expensive fireworks from around the globe are easily accessible, from the iconic lit-up vista of Sydney Harbour to London's Thames affair. Here's a guide to where you can watch the countdowns live or on demand — this is your 2026, you can decide when midnight happens for you.

New Year's Eve fireworks live streams
The key to figuring out New Year's Eve celebrations is knowing your timezones. Mashable's Chance Townsend spelled it out last year, writing:
Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) is the world’s standard time system and each location’s time zone is measured as an offset from UTC. For example, UTC+0 includes cities like London, meaning their clocks align exactly with UTC. Cities to the east, like Dubai (UTC+4), are ahead of UTC, celebrating earlier, while those to the west, like New York City (UTC-5), are behind, ringing in the New Year hours later.
Starting at UTC+14 in Kiritimati (a tiny island country in the Micronesia region of Oceania and the first to celebrate) and ending in Hawaii at UTC-10 (the last), this time zone progression lets us follow the global party as midnight strikes in each region.

Lovely and powerful stuff ... well done
ReplyDeleteAustralia made me tear up. Not what I was expecting looking at fireworks displays.
ReplyDeleteI would have enjoyed seeing a defiant Ukraine celebration.
ReplyDeleteI liked the drone effects, especially the horse. I don't think they are as hard on the environment as the fireworks. I liked the bootmen(?) parade, and the Pope at the beautiful nativity at the Vatican, even though NYE doesn't have much to do with Christmas. I am happy that people all over the world found some pleasure together, and that all the people at Mar-a-Lago got a bit of extra sleep listening to the other drone effect. I wonder what they had to pay to attend that shindig.
ReplyDeleteHappy, hopeful 2026, and remember to keep looking over our shoulders, while keeping our elbows up.
Missing pictures of Chicago, USA
ReplyDeleteSo cool! So hopeful when the world celebrates!
ReplyDeleteThe Balinese women are spectacular and their performance would be lovely to watch.
ReplyDeleteReleasing the sun of 2025 and welcoming the sun of 2026...Nice.
May Jack Smith return to tell the truth in public now in 2026.
ReplyDeleteNo Edinburgh Hogmanay? What a shame, as last year’s had to be cancelled at the last minute. A bit of history: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cwyvqn85vj7o
ReplyDeleteFužine is known for celebrating New Years at noon. Then every can party and go home and get some reasonable sleep!
ReplyDeleteWe rang it in in Paris and it was better than anything New York has ever done. Hands down.
ReplyDeleteNY needs to take notes…..the Parisians know how to get it done in style. Times Square is crass and tacky in comparison.
The drone light shows in China and Abu Dhabi were extraordinary. Thousands of drones co-ordinated to reproduce the famous galloping horse brush and ink painting over the Great Wall. New York on the other hand was completely commercialized with heavy brand displays. A not especially interesting Kia branded dropping ball; revellers wearing paper top hats branded with the name of a fitness company. No light show, just the usual confetti. America outdone.
ReplyDeletemy thoughts as well.
DeleteHappy '26! I hope next year you'll include The Netherlands! Until I spent my first New Year's there, I thought I "knew" fireworks from a lifetime of holidays spent in different cities and countries. I'm not sure anyone anywhere does fireworks like the Dutch. Even in small villages you can hear them until 5:00 a.m.
ReplyDeleteIt always begins the same way—with joy and hope and loud fireworks. And it always ends the same—quiet and pensive reflection on the loss and tragedy of the past year.
ReplyDeleteMaybe we need to give Hope more help.
DeleteEnjoy 2026’s 31,536,000 seconds.
ReplyDeleteMany will be so sweet.
Many challenging.
Many rewarding.
Wishing a good attitude for us all.
May love grace the entire year.
As always, the world for Americans is 99% the northern hemisphere, though honestly being forgotten by the US is proving to be a good thing these days...
ReplyDeleteThough I didn’t see any coverage of South America or southern Africa, both Australia and New Zealand were included.
DeleteI hope you’re New Year’s resolution wasn’t having a sunny disposition, because I have bad news for you.
DeleteHappy New Year everyone!!
ReplyDeleteIt's nice to see so many people agree on the same thing....HAPPY NEW YEAR to all.
ReplyDeleteMay the fireworks on display today pale in comparison to pyrotechnics for the USA’s 250th birthday celebrations.
ReplyDeletelaboratoryif trump is in charge, it will be a debacle like his military parade.
DeleteWell friend, Happy New Year, but why?
DeleteSome country planning to invade?
DeleteSpectacular photography!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm absolutely terrified for this 2026.
ReplyDelete“New Zealand among the first”
ReplyDelete?
Being 13 hours ahead of what used to be GMT and 21 hours ahead of Pacific Time and an hour ahead of the Kamchatka Peninsula because of Daylight Saving Time here, who could also be “among the first”?
A couple of islands in the Pacific (Samoa, Kiribati, Tonga, Kiritimati) which are GMT+ 14.
DeleteMy favorite was the Balinese: colorful, beautiful, real culture, and no noise.
ReplyDeleteBut I'm glad I'm home alone, where it's peaceful, affordable, and apparently safe. I'm playing chess online, watching reruns of THE BLACKLIST, and fixin' to open some cans of tamales and Ranch Style Beans for supper. It's 7:15 p.m. where I am. Maybe add in some bread and butter, Fritos, red onions, and a swig of chilled Dr Pepper. Man, that's livin'.
Who said that American decadence is a lost art?
A bit of fact checking here - Tonga shares our time zone and has since they advanced their clocks at the millennium in an attempt to have the first Dawn of the new millennium, but our relative position to the south meant that we first saw the light that morning. The Chatham Islands as part of NZ and to the east are 45 minutes ahead so they were not only “among the first”, but first.
ReplyDeleteThank you Australia, for reminding us what is important.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year! Peace on Earth!
ReplyDeletewonderful to have so much for those many of us who are isolated. less mobile and poorer to not be able to go to see such spectacles...
ReplyDeleteappreciate this displays & variety.
worth our subscription paid up !
Those thousands of balloons released in India are terrible for the environment and aircraft.
ReplyDeleteBalloons were also released in Beijing. And fireworks aren’t very good for the environment either.
DeleteBalloons were also released in Beijing. And fireworks aren’t very good for the environment either.
DeleteAs a horsewoman, my favorite was the drone induced rearing horse seemingly ready to jump the bridge. And as an animal lover, I think of all the non-humans who are terrified, run away, become injured or die because the sounds terrify them. Can't fireworks happen without all the noise? Please!
ReplyDeleteDear God, when will we end the horrific fireworks? The havoc that fireworks reap for both wildlife and domestic animals cannot be justified. Just so we can have a few minutes of listening to some big booms and pretty lights? How about drones to make beautiful light formations instead? Please, people, have some compassion for animals and the environment.
ReplyDeleteWait a minute...didn't we do this last year?
ReplyDeleteBalloon pollution is not a good way to greet the new year. But the fireworks are nice.
ReplyDeletefireworks are also not eco-friendly.
DeleteThis was a year to forget. From Ukraine and Gaza to the fascist regime taking a stranglehold in the United States, 2025 was a grueling, toxic, horrid, bloody, cruel, sadistic, callous, awful mess. Let’s all work to make 2026 infinitely better. We can start by electing better leaders and representatives. We owe it to ourselves; it’s our duty as citizens of the world.
ReplyDeleteAwomen!! Couldn't have said it better myself. Trying to scrounge a little hope for the coming year after the horror of this one just passed. Good riddance 2025!!!!!
DeleteLooking forward to Trump's Coup Attempt #2 this year. All Hail the King!
ReplyDeletePlease do this every year. It’s wonderful to see the whole world celebrating together, but differently.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful display of nations around the globe welcoming the new year.
ReplyDeleteMay your 2026 be full of reflection, resilience and peaceful resistance!
Thank you. I love seeing the cities and their displays!
ReplyDeletePeace to all in the coming New Year
ReplyDeleteMay it be so
Seeing people's desire to celebrate and be happy everywhere is a reminder of how alike we are - if we could only remember this for the rest of the year.
ReplyDeleteMay the new year bring peace to as many of us as possible <3
Happy New Year 🎆 everyone

🦋🌼Lord JESUS I’m struggling my husband passed years ago I feel alone as a single mother. My health hasn’t been the same since my heart attack and I suffer from lupus. Both of my sons have special needs and I’m overwhelmed at times. JESUS Guide me as I struggle to provide the basic necessities like food, clothing and shelter for my sons. Hear my prayers.🌼
ReplyDeleteHe hears you. Leads you and guides and will never leave you. Trust is crucial.
DeleteI’m no god but I really hope you’re next year is better🥰🥰as a chronically ill girly myself, health can suck x
DeleteAmen ❤
DeleteWow Lupus what the heck another hospital bills

DeleteSorry but I don't feel good about 2026. Here's my prediction I posted on twitter a month ago. Everybody should prepare instead of wasting money on fireworks.
ReplyDelete___________________________
2026 won't be a normal year. It’ll bring cosmic upheaval that rewrites timelines, destroys old worlds, and forces humanity to wake up at soul-level. 2026 is the year the universe flips the script and nothing, absolutely nothing, remains the same.

Agreed.
DeleteRecently the blog had some problems with the comments, especially at the end of the year, but now it's back to normal!
ReplyDeleteI would like to wish everyone a Happy New Year. Thank you to everyone who follows and interacts; all of this happens because of you. God bless you all!
😍😍😍
