Walk for Freedom: Despite the rain, Nikolas' final leg of the walk brings together protesters from all over Brazil in Brasília.

Even under heavy rain in the federal capital, the walk organized by federal deputy Nikolas Ferreira (PL-MG) mobilizes supporters this Sunday (25). The event takes place in support of former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL) and against the convictions relating to crimes committed on January 8, 2023.
The walk began last Monday (19) in Paracatu, in the interior of Minas Gerais, heading towards Brasília. In the Federal District, the last phase of the event began around 10 am.
The protesters left Park Way, an upscale neighborhood located almost 20 km from the central area of Brasília, traveling along the EPIA (Estrada Parque Indústria e Abastecimento) South and the EPIA North. The demonstration is expected to end at Praça do Cruzeiro, on the Eixo Monumental, where Nikolas is scheduled to address the protesters.
The event also brings together several political figures, such as Carlos Bolsonaro, former city councilor, Father Kelmon, Senator Marcos do Val (Podemos-ES), Representatives Zé Trovão (PL-SC), Filipe Barros (PL-PR), and Carlos Jordy (PL-RJ).
Before beginning the final stage of the march, Nikolas said that the demonstration had fulfilled its objective of "awakening people and opening their eyes to what is happening" in the country.
Bulletproof vest
Also on Sunday, Nikolas Ferreira stated that he was instructed by the PLF (Federal Legislative Police) to use bulletproof vests.
The congressman began wearing a vest in the final days of the campaign. According to his staff, the use of the equipment is due to threats made against Nikolas. The origin and authorship of the alleged threats were not disclosed.
"I received guidance. The PLF team and their intelligence unit started warning me as the risks increased, and there came a point when the risks escalated and they asked me to use it," Nikolas said in a conversation with the press this morning.
"The threats emerged and began to escalate. And obviously, to protect my life, we are using it," he continued.
"This walk is not a silver bullet. It is not a gesture to solve all of Brazil's problems, nor does it intend to replace institutions, laws or the duty of each citizen. It is, above all, a symbolic act – and symbols matter more than many imagine", stated the deputy on the networks."

"Security risks"
Last Wednesday (21), the PRF (Federal Highway Police) stated that there are operational and road safety risks in the “Walk for Freedom” led by the deputy.
According to the corporation, the legislator did not inform the traffic authorities about the march, which prevented the advance planning of measures to reduce the safety risk to participants and drivers using the highway.
The Federal Highway Police (PRF) also reported that, even without prior notice, it monitored the movement of parliamentarians and civilians and, also for security reasons during the walk, notified the congressman's office.
Walking towards Brasília
Nikolas Ferreira left the municipality of Paracatu, in the Northwest of Minas Gerais, on Monday (19). The parliamentarian's gesture, after great repercussion on social media, gained the support of other members of Congress, Bolsonaro supporters and also voters of the federal deputy.
The demonstration, which followed the BR-040, will end on Sunday (25), at 12 pm, at Praça do Cruzeiro, in Brasília, after 240 kilometers traveled.
According to the congressman, the objective is to protest against decisions by the STF (Supreme Federal Court) regarding those convicted for the anti-democratic acts of January 8, 2023, especially former president Jair Bolsonaro — convicted of attempted coup d'état after his defeat in the 2022 elections and imprisoned in the Papuda Complex in Brasília.
