'Downton Abbey: A New Era' teaser trailer has Maggie Smith spilling secrets about her 'mysterious past'
A new era beckons for the Crawley family. And big changes are in store!
The teaser trailer for Downton Abbey: A New Era hints that life has moved on at Downton since the series and the first movie — for the better!
Love is in the air for Tom Branson (Allen Leech) who appears to be getting hitched in the trailer. As for the Dowager Countess (Maggie Smith), she's "come into the possession of a villa in the south of France" as the result of a connection with a man she met before the Earl of Grantham was born. Um, what happened there then?
Also, has anyone seen Henry Talbot (Matthew Goode) — AKA Lady Mary's husband? His name is conspicuous by its absence from the cast list.
All shall be revealed when Downton Abbey: A New Era opens in cinemas on March 18, 2022.
I feel like 'A New Era' is going to be better than the first movie was. So excited I can't wait!!!
ReplyDeleteWe REALLY need a prequel spinoff about Violet's youth ;D
ReplyDeleteYou are EXACTLY right!!
DeleteSrsly! A mysterious man in France before she married? An affair with a Russian prince? These are stories we need to see!
DeleteYes please!
DeleteYou are speaking facts
DeleteIt’d be hard to replace Maggie in the role though
DeleteMaybe a third film - Mamma Mia 2 style - where we see modern day Violet and then have flashbacks intertwined
DeleteAlthough I know this should have stayed a series, and I mean really should have, I love it with all my heart and I can’t help but be excited for this!
ReplyDeleteI'm in tears, I'm finally living in England after wanting it so long and now I'll watch it here!!
ReplyDeleteEvery time I hear the theme music, I get excited! Seeing this makes me feel more excited! I can't wait to see this!
ReplyDeleteI need a prequel about the Dowager's youth
ReplyDeleteThat would be awesome
DeleteYes please!!!
DeleteAbsolutely whimsical.
ReplyDeleteThis is great, but I would really like for Barrow to play a much bigger part and live happily every after!
ReplyDeleteI know! They give him a boyfriend and then leave us out to dry!
DeleteAgreed.
DeleteDon't worry... it's coming!
Delete“The King and Queen are coming to stay!”
ReplyDeleteMary: “What?”
“I have come to be in possession of a villa, in the south of France.”
Mary: “What?”
“There is a rumour in London that you are not virtuous.”
Mary: “What?”
“His ulcer has burst!”
Mary: “What?”
!!!!
DeleteLol ;D
DeleteAnd it’s the same exact “what?” Fabulous.
DeleteLet’s add this:
Matthew is still alive living as an amnesiac in France
“What?”
now that’s a what!
DeleteEdith would have answer “I don’t understand”
DeleteI find “what?” Very rude, and one would think rich people would say “pardon”, but I learnt from “the crown” that saying that makes it seem as if u are begging for something.
DeleteI thought the same ;D
DeleteCan't wait, wonder what year the story is on and also if we are going to get anymore films.
ReplyDelete0:35
ReplyDeleteIt looks like Sybbie, Marigold, and Caroline (Mary’s daughter, whom she’s holding) were flower girls/bridesmaids.
Love it sooo much ! OMG I can't wait ! It's so good for morale after these horrible 2 years. we feel like at home. it gives a boost of freshness, it feels really good. And the music is always so exciting, beautiful and magical. I hope we will have more follow-up. 💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖
ReplyDeleteBut I thought Maggie was not returning? Glad she is though.
ReplyDeleteMary's official line: “WHAT?”
ReplyDeleteI just want Mrs Patmore to finally find love! She deserves it so much that sweet old gal!
ReplyDeleteWe need to have a "mid-quel series" that takes us back to the days of Sybil and Matthew, when they were alive.
ReplyDeleteThere were lots of years when both were alive, which were only lightly covered.
A Downton Abbey: Matthew and Sybil series would be extremely popular.
It could alternate between stories involving the two individually. And sometimes stories that involved both together in some fashion.
And weave alternate camera takes from the original series into the footage, to nail the new stories into the fringes of the original stories. Like was done with the Karate Kid movie and Cobra Kai.
Matthew and Sybil were the two most popular characters in the original series. And their untimely and ill-considered deaths ripped a hole in the hearts of many fans.
Mary said that’s her Villa now
ReplyDeleteAs long as Mary isn't such a 🤬 to Edith and allows her to be happy, I'm happy.
ReplyDeleteTHIS LOOKS FANTASTIC! I CAN'T WAIT!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm so excited to see this!! I've watched every Downton abbey Episode, including the movie.
ReplyDeleteIt feels like the movie will start with Lady Violet announcing her inheritance. Tom then gets married. Lady Violet is too ill to travel to the South so other members of the family would go there, partly to celebrate Tom's new marriage and in the villa they would uncover some artefacts about Lady Violet's pre-marriage life.
ReplyDeleteOH MY GOODNESS!!! This is going to be even better than the first movie!!! Aaaaaaaaa 😍😍😍
ReplyDeleteOk but that’s how we’re all exiting a room from now on, right?
ReplyDelete“On that I shall say good night and leave you to discuss my mysterious past”
I'm looking forward to seeing this. I just really want to see a movie showing how they survived the great depression. (After all, Highclere and it's family survived it.)
ReplyDeleteSuch a long time to wait!! I love this series..have rewatched numerous times!! Just can't get enough!
ReplyDeleteSAME!!
