New graduates aren't afraid to use ChatGPT when applying for jobs — and some professionals aren't afraid to reject them for doing so.
Talent cloud company iCIMS just dropped its 8th annual "Class of" report, where it gathers information from college students and recent grads in order to help human resource departments "engage" with them. The class of 2023 is, understandably, unsure about the future, citing economic anxiety and shifting aspirations thanks to COVID.
The newly minted grads are also jumping on generative AI since ChatGPT's debut last December. According to the report, 47 percent of college seniors are interested in using ChatGPT or other AI bots to write their resumes or cover letter. Twenty-five percent of Gen Z have already used an AI bot to help write their resume or cover letter.
"Generative AI bots (like ChatGPT) have the potential to help both candidates and employers be more productive and communicate better," commented iCMIS Chief Technology Officer Al Smith, in the report. "From resumes and job descriptions to offer letters and onboarding material, the technology offers employers and recruiters a better starting point as they move through the hiring journey."
Job seekers who use generative AI should be careful, however: 39 percent of HR professionals said the use of AI tech during hiring is a dealbreaker.
With ChatGPT helping people land job interviews, it's no surprise that the class of 2023 wants to take advantage. Given that AI bots tend to make up information and can be made by shady developers, however, their best bet is to write their resumes and cover letters the old-fashioned way.

So basically 39% recruiters are aren't open minded individuals. AI can't make up your experience... It only helps improve your resume text... For technical people that is very helpful. So those 39% I think that they will be left out if they can't adapt to this
ReplyDeleteWhat a load of 💩 AI won’t make my experience as a therapist into a rocket scientist in my resume.
ReplyDeleteWriting a resume is easy anyhow. The hard part is writing *cover letters*. (And the TEDIOUS part is retyping everything from your resume into the application form separately.)
ReplyDeleteI saw use it as a reference not as the main document
ReplyDeleteOf course, employers WILL use AI to cull applications rather than actually reading the resume/cover letter themselves...
ReplyDeleteI guess it's not lazy when they do it? 🤔
So use it to write your resume, then review it for factual content and errors.
ReplyDeleteWhat a bunch of nonsense, like they can even tell. AI detecting software swears that the Constitution was generated by an AI, that tells you how ridiculous these concerns are.
ReplyDeleteThis article is click bait. It only outlines a claim and no examples of why or how they are dealbreakers
ReplyDeleteIf you need the AI to apply for the job for you, it stands to reason that you will try to have the Ai do your paid work for you too. Should the employer just hire the AI and cut out the middlemen?
ReplyDeleteStarting from scratch and using AI to write your resume may be a mistake. Writing your own and having AI edit and update it is a brilliant plan! - Corporate MIS Recruiter
ReplyDeletehonestly would be impressed knowing the employee would use AI if the resume was well done and accurate. It shows he is willing to use the technology to be accurate and efficient.
Deleteyeah and we need to trust in the recruiters criteria? 🙄 I prefer a robot that hire… not human
Deletegood luck.
Deleteohh thank you! 🫡😃
DeleteWhy don’t employers write the CVs and cover letters themselves using ChatGPT? They could do it the way they want.
ReplyDeleteIf they can tell, then you fail the skill test.
ReplyDeleteThis is stupid.

ReplyDeleteHello everyone i want to tell the world about Herbs. Dr Ayaka cured me from HSV1-2 with herbal medicine he send to me. Thank Doctor https://www.facebook.com/Dr-AYAKA-Herbal-Treatment-101752475928062/
ReplyDeleteIf anything, recruiters have caused this too happen. Writing a resume is now more about “playing the game” to get around automatic readers than representing your skills and experience. They can’t use their own AI and turn around and say “don’t use AI”
ReplyDeleteagreed! Ai eliminates laborious time-wasting tasks.
DeleteHuh? Resume generators already existed…
ReplyDeleteNot knowing how to properly use ChatGPT and Bard is the real deal breaker
ReplyDeleteHello.... Do you mind sending me a friend request....???
Deletehow yous doin?
DeleteI let AI write a resume for me and the 3 it wrote were amazing.
ReplyDeleteWhy? If it’s your resume who cares who wrote it! Real experience is real. If lying that’s the deal breaker
ReplyDeleteVery obvious.
ReplyDeleteYet their recruitment software is completely automated to read and spit out recommended candidates. Hmmm.
ReplyDeleteYeah the hypocrisy and arrogance are astounding.
DeleteWe have already discussed this and how resumes are meaningless now and will have to simply prove yourself in an interview Too much fake everything
ReplyDeleteHR professionals should be wary they are being replaced by AI "early 8,000 roles at IBM, including many HR functions, look set to be replaced by AI in the next few years, according to the firm’s chief."
ReplyDeleteWho needs to pay someone to read a resume when AI can find the closest match in seconds.

but chatGPT can not make cheat for this game https://uneg.my.id/calculator/
ReplyDeletechatGPT is weak in calculation
Oh no! Those poor HR professionals! What are they going to do?
ReplyDeleteUse it. The recruiters will get over it soon.
ReplyDeleteWhy? If it does a good job (And it does) than why the hell not? Does HR think they understand better than AI what a resume should look like?
ReplyDeleteI mean if you are literally just copy-pasting things without modifying them then yeah, that's lazy and a big red flag LOL. Using it to help you refine it is much better idea.
ReplyDeleteI am interested
ReplyDeleteWary today is commonplace tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteVery true. A resume isn't supposed to represent your writing abilities. It's supposed to represent your skills.
DeleteThe ability to write concisely and effectively IS a skill -- one that a surprisingly large number of people lack.
DeleteGuys, just change the words , or use another AI platform to change the words up. Don't copy paste smh

ReplyDeleteNext, recruiters who are looking for people who know how to use ChatGPT.
ReplyDeleteどんどんやれw
ReplyDeleteOh really, so they don't use artificial intelligence to help them filter and select between the pool of hundreds of applicants in their postings? None of them read all the CVs they receive, why should we spend our time manually tailoring every CV we make when in most cases we're not even getting a reply later? They're just being hypocrites.
