'Sonic the Hedgehog 2's first trailer introduces Tails, Knuckles, and Dr. Robotnik's new 'stache
The first trailer for Sonic the Hedgehog 2 just premiered at The Game Awards 2020, and it seems the speedy blue mammal hasn't slowed down. However, some new characters might give him a run for his money.
Set after the events of 2020's Sonic the Hedgehog, the sequel's trailer shows Sonic (voiced by Ben Schwartz) causing restless havoc until Dr. Robotnik (Jim Carrey) and his upgraded moustache return in search of a powerful, potentially destructive emerald. However he isn't alone, bringing with him Knuckles the Echidna (voiced by Idris Elba).
Fortunately Sonic has allies as well, the trailer also seeing the return of James Marsden as Sonic's beleaguered friend Sheriff Wachowski, and the introduction of two-tailed fox Tails (voiced by Colleen O'Shaughnessey, reprising her role from the games).
Sonic the Hedgehog will cross the finish line on Apr. 8.

ReplyDeleteWhen the people behind something actually listens to the audience, it makes me want to support them and all their efforts regardless of bad or good. This looks great though.
ReplyDeleteAgreed. It would seem they took the lessons they learned from the first movie and kept those principles in place moving forward.

ReplyDeleteI'm actually very impressed by the sonic movies. I never knew Jim would make such an interesting and pretty much perfect robotnik. I hope he sticks around for a few more movies!

The fact that knuckles is starting as a threat, is SO GREAT. They took this out of the Sonic 3 & Knuckles Storyline (and the storyline for that game is AWESOME)

ReplyDeleteI like how they made knuckles' arms thicker in order to show off his strength. That kind of attention to detail just shows you how much effort is being put in.
ReplyDeleteSonic literally got me through some tough times as a kid I'm glad he's finally getting a great movie franchise. Hopefully the game (Sonic Frontiers) lives up to the hype as well

DeleteI hope Knuckles is in this film a lot. He’s such a badass villain/antihero in some of the early games. Hope the transition from evil to good isn’t super forced or too fast paced.
ReplyDeleteI'm so excited, Sonic is already a sort of vigilante in his games so doing the same in the movie is brilliant, the tails's part is great, showing a bit of their newly formed dynamic is a really nice touch, even Sonic riding the tornado and Knuckles, My god Knuckles being at eggman's side yet again it's- I just can't wait !!!
ReplyDeleteThe fact that Eggman got knuckles to attack sonic is perfect, as it fits perfectly with how they originally met, with Eggman telling knuckles sonic wanted the master emerald.

ReplyDeleteThey did. He’s a lighter blue in quiet a few shots. Tails’s design has also been altered with being a bit thinner than he was in the first film

ReplyDeleteIm gonna be real with people here. When I played the first STH which was around 2001 for me, I thought it was boring. A couple years later I played SA2B on the gamecube with my siblings and cousins and I fell in love with the series. That year for my birthday my younger brother and I got a dozen different sonic games.

ReplyDeleteSoon as the first seconds made a nod to SA1 I couldnt stop smiling for the entire trailer. And then I slight gasped a couple times at some unexpected parts. This sequel is gonna be amazing omg. I know they most likely wont go past 3 movies max. But I still pray that they at least push for 4.

ReplyDeleteLove that Colleen is still voicing my boi Tails! She did great in the Sonic Boom series, which was far better than it had any right to be. And Knuckles just comes off as raw badass. Loved this!
